Culina's comments in Sydney's saturday daily telegraph newspaper should get the Phoenix players and fans hyped up for their semifinal clash
This is part of the Article as follows:-
"But regarding the long term future of wellington in the A-League, he said "They have become very competitive now and we have to be careful that they don't become New Zealand's national team".
"We want a strong leaue and Wellington are good value. That doesn't mean to say I agree with them being in our competition". "I really don't like the idea of a team coming in from outside. They should all be Australian teams, but that's my opinion".

so would he make the same comments if Wellington had to travel to Newcastle?

I think he is entitled to his opinion. I think he is wrong, and we bring more to the league than we take by being there, but I don't think we should just insult everyone that disagrees with our place. Comments about it becoming our de facto national team are a little silly however.

Try telling that to all the Australians on the FFT forums that liken playing the All Whites to playing an A-league side. One or two even said the socceroos would be be better off playing the Victory or SFC.

Yeh I think he's just stirring crap- I didn't think we did too badly on the FFT forums. Apart from the regulars Heineken, Cool Cat etc there weren't to many heckling us for the sake of it.
A lot of Melbourne Sydney angst, some saying that we'd got a better build up with Mexico (ie annoyed at FFA but not being rude about us), some worried that it would become an all in brawl, that it would be all Australia's to lose.
We perhaps got more props than we deserve, especially with Nelsen and Vicelich out.
edit: plus the happyted there can't be the real thing can he?

I think you are spot on in all comments. We have very few AW's in the side now.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
