The guy donates  a hundred mill aus dollars to medical research but at the 'same' time announces (or so it seems from the media) that his 'Glams' will win the league in their first season.

I'm quite prepared to dislike the guy intensely, at least during the football season.

On one hand he says he's going to win the league and in the other says he's going to have an entire forward or back line of Asian players...so that's interesting

...he also says he's going to win the league and that Miron Bleiberg is in charge.

Miron is good coach.

He sure is full of himself..

He says he expects to win the league in his first season. What happens if he doesn't? Will he pull out and put it down to a bad investment?

As long as he doesn't pull the plug when they don't win next season!

The salary cap is the same for everyone; sure they might be able to get the best marquee player in the league, but that's only one man.

And having a a few rope in players for the ACL if they get in. ACL has no salary cap.

So if they have two boys at the same performance, one is imported from China and a local boy, I guess the local boy gets the line up even tho he is paying the Chinese guy a bit more?

No, but it has a 3 player, non domestic rule.  It means that unless he cuts more than one of the imports in his A-League squad he's restricted to Australians to 'guest' to play in the ACL and the pool isn't that deep.

Seems like investing in A-League clubs is the new sexy investment for squillionaires.
Better to have a big wig backing a club then have it always financially in the crap. Plus guys like that add lots of colour(and media coverage).
Because they are new to football they don't know the rules " just get me the best players in the world ,I'll pay". Expect some real action on the marquee front. This is great for the A-League coz the more money floating around the better the players and the higher the standard.

I do fear that if the expansion is too quick and he and another new investor pull out because of ludicrous expectations it could really damage the league. But then I am Critical/Cynical/Pessemistic Lemon.

The Aussie Roman Abramovich - could be a high turn over of managers if those are his expectations from the off.

If I was a multi-millionaire owner of an A League franchise based in Wellington, there is no way I would allow an Aussie billionaire upstart outdo me......(hint hint)

He's also a publicists dream... some of what he comes out with is hilarious - especially when he's under the pump, which will work well on the Coast in competition to the NRL/AFL (???) coaching teams... it's all part of the plan... good for football too.
