He was not that bad at all, being honest.  Just the fact that he didn't live up to his marquee status and was a poor crosser of the ball has turned so many against him.

I agree with loyalgunner - his positional play was very good, and he was almost always available to receive the ball. It was his crossing and his inability to beat players that let him down more than anything.

Ah yes, but as a wide player aren't these two of the expected standard skillset he should possess and have the basics of......

It wasn't even occasionally, it was almost every time.  Agree his positional play and ability to run into and to find space was good.....but everything after that was substandard by a long shot......

His ability to find space is doubly impressive when you consider how much of it he occupied.

Ha - yeah fair enough. But if you believed everything you read on here, you'd be forgiven for thinking he couldn't kick or control a ball - or that he'd be on this list.
