Sydney set for Football HQVAL MIGLIACCIO
March 06, 2008 02:30amSYDNEY is once again set to be the benefactor of a master soccer plan.Football Federation Australia officials have proposed an impressive $33million National Football Centre to its board members.
The project is due for completion in 2011 � in time for FIFA's final roll call for the World Cup bidding process in 2018.
The centre is set to be the home of soccer in Australia with the FFA well into negotiations with the NSW state government.
FFA
head of high Performance John Boultbee and technical director Robert
Baan have tabled the requirements of the ambitious project to the NSW
government's working party.
The NFC, which is set to win the tag
as the "Home of Football," has been earmarked for Sydney locations, ES
Marks Field and Barton Park.
The NFC will house the FFA and
A-League administration, national teams training and development
facilities, youth development, coach and referee education and training
and the hosting of international matches for the Olyroos, Matildas and
Joeys.
The NFC is aiming to provide a stadium which will have a
6,000 capacity, two training pitches, an indoor futsal court for 500
spectators, accommodation for 120 and a restaurant.
