Some very irresponsible reporting practices in place at TVNZ where this story was concerned. It serves to emphasise why you should report stories based on cold hard facts, not unconfirmed reports, rumours and hearsay.
As someone who knows Sandy fairly well, I was somewhat shocked when I first saw it appear at lunch-time. Thankfully the Herald follow-up revealed it was a case of mistaken identity, as when the update came through, I was preparing myself to make a phone call to someone who wouldn't have been aware of this news, and with whom Sandy has worked very closely over the years.
Knowing Sandy, he'll defo see the funny side of it! :-))
Cheers,
