Just a quick heads up to let you know that Glenn Hoddle will be appearing on Martin Devlin's new sports show on Radio Live on Sunday July 12.

Hoddle - the former Tottenham star and the most successful England manager since Sir Alf Ramsay - will go one-on-one with Devlin at 4pm on Sunday.

Hoddle, who now runs the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain, will talk about his take on the Premiership, skyrocketing transfer fees and his days managing and playing for Spurs.

Devlin's show runs between 2 and 6pm every Saturday and Sunday.

Explaining jokes

I just liked Devlin's plug for his own show and Radiolive.

Hoddle is a legend. Ask him about his goal ni 88 i think when he got the ball played into him in the box, cut it back behind him whilst turning the defender, then chipped the keeper from an angle who was barely off his line. Best goal ever.

What about the Miles and Yatesy On the ball show which promotes Local Football the most difficult topic to get Radio Time, every Tuesday 12.15-1pm on Radio Sport which has had the Chatham Cup live with the most level minded draws,no fixes what so ever who gives a toss about Glenn Hoddle

Nice work Marty.  Will be well worth a listen.  Maybe also ask him about that goal he scored that they used to have on the credits for Big League Soccer when the ball didn't touch the ground from the time the keeper booted it upfield until it was in the back of the net - flicked on for Hoddle to smash in a volley on the angle from 20 yards.

Yeah, I remember seeing that goal on BLS.  Been searching for it on youtube without any luck. Ah! Glory days...

lol, at least i can listen to devlins show. 3/4 of the country seem to be suffering from the notion that farming = sport.  (I assume caused by agri whatevers cheque book)

Way to knock someone trying to give football some coverage!

I know, i'm just pissed off that I don't get to hear it because radio sport has whored itself out to a farming show (+ national party love in) in the middle of the day so I (and many others) can't listen to sport.  Put it on ZB FFS!!

N.B. I know it's not your fault, just venting, and I have let RS know of my concern aswell, as have many others.

still think the one that Feverish was talking about (against Watford) was better.  Can't be bothered trying to find a clip, but I am sure that someone will.

Back to the original post - how exactly is Hoddle the most successful England manager since Sir Alf?  He won nothing and never got England past a quarter final of a major competition (unless we are including the Toulouse Cup, or whatever it was that England won).  Sir Bobby Robson got England to a World Cup semi final, while Venebals got them to the semi's of Euro 96, which are both bigger acheivements than what Hod the God botherer managed.  Please do not say that it was based on win percentages.

Yep - I'd agree with that. Sir Bobby or El Tel would be ahead of Hoddle.

Erm what about Sven?

Edit: Just looking at the Stats Hoddle has the highest percentage of wins of any manager since Ramsey before Capello. Who would have thought it?

Ah, you mean Mr Ulrika Johnsson. Yes, what about him? He did OK.

Hoddle you must remember had an able assistant Manager (Eileen Drewery) so maybe you should divide the wins between the two of them (or three if you count who Eileen is really working for).

Fantastic Spurs player, and a great person by all accounts. Shame about the epiphany.

I know, drives me f*ckin insane. Turn the radio on at midday and there's a rundown on ewe prices followed by an interview with the rural bank manager from the National Bank.

Ridiculous...
