I know the herald didn't pay for it but I felt a little dirty reading it. I don't have a herald in front of me now as I ran as far as I could in disgust. It read something like this:
Product2010-06-02 16:32:54
"Anything but a friendly with nothing riding on it".
It's a tri-nations game. So it's not like any side's not going to place

Your kidding me?
I don't understand your question and it's not due to the poor grammar.

I think rugby in New Zealand is feeling the pressure from the extra attention the All Whites and Nix are getting.

This was discussed on Miles Davis a bit today, they had the guy who made the ad on from the agency saying nothing was meant by it. Not sure I believe it

yeah, he failed at any point to explain what was meant instead.
sounded like the agent who had f'cked up his client's job (client actually being Auckland rugby union) and trying to take heat out of the issue on behalf of his now very likely ex client.
but probably a dumb play by an advertising agency rather than something deeper on part of the union

on the basis of the above posts, i reckon that whoever signed off the ad is either a bit thick or rugby are feeling a wee bit anxious as NZ slowly, but surely, changes
seems like a bit of an indicator to me

They tried to claim it was pointing out the rivalry of the teams involved, but the wording seems very suspicious, and I have no doubt it was a poor attempt at a dig by egg ball followers at the beautiful game.
It's not our fault the All Blacks insist on calling all their matches against 3rd world countries "tests".

Can I jusrt point out that this is nothign to do with the herald? Newspapers make their money selling advertising, contens of ads are not an editorial position

And damn does editorial hate advertising!
