Agreed, he is a very good lead man in any broadcast. Not a fan of his commentary, but he is a very good presenter.

Did you watch it? He was not obnoxious. He was up beat, positive, knowledgable about the teams and the competition and the permutations, and he was pro-phoenix, and pro-football. I thought it was a brilliant presenters performance, especially so for someone who is a self confessed league nutter and not a full time football OCD.

We KNOW McIvor is not a rabid football fan or expert. So pointing out that he said YOU fans of the ROUND BALL is a bit pointless, isn't it? It is precisely because he's not an acknowledged football tragic that I thought his presentation was so superb. He didn't hide that he is not a football fantatic, but he STILL did a great job coming across as well researched, knowledgable and enthusiastic. Bravo I say.

I worked with Steven for some time at SKY, and he is very professional in his approach to his work... if he was asked to front the show for the week, you can guarantee he did a bunch of reading and research, going over old tapes and stuff, in order to do the best job possible... he may not be a football expert, but he does like the game, and he would have taken this particular task very seriously...

if you don't like the guy, that's fine, your prerogative, but I think the point being made in starting this thread is a valid one...

I like McIvor, think he's a pretty good, professional, sportscaster in the sea of mediocrity out there.

Yep. As for those objecting to his use of 'you' and 'your', that is how he speaks, he wasn't doing it to isolate himself from the team. Often when the Warriors are coming on he will say something like 'your Vodafone Warriors kickoff after the break'.
