...and 18000 is one of Sydney's better crowds in the last 12 months, and ignoring the inherent problems in Perth to take the crowd number as a snapshot on the state of the league is absolute arse.

He really has turned into a miserable old coot.

plus the fact crowds are up like 17 percent this year compared to last year so who knows were he is getting his facts from.
Sorry Sam - I don't think we can have 8 wins a week.

Mmm are you sure some of you havnt become just a little touchy when it comes to what some people say.Now dont get me wrong i am no fan of Sam but he did also say this.

The one noticeable exception is the Wellington Phoenix.

The Nix have been the most exciting team to watch and they play an attacking game that is pleasing to the eye.

And you can be assured their games will have plenty of goals at either end.

Hopefully, tonight there will be more goal in the "for" column than in the "against" when they take on the Jets in Newcastle.

You have a point ballane - but that column appeared in the sunday star times. Sam was basically saying that alot people think the a league is boring this year. He based his whole argument on incorrect figures. This is not good publicity for the a league and that rubs off on the phoenix even if he did go onto say we play atractive football.

It just disappointing someone given licence to write a regular column hasnt even been listening to realise average crowds are actually up this year. That is poor bc that fact has been all over the Australasian football media this week.

I think the 17% increase is directly contributable to the fact that there is actually crowds at Wellingtons games, unlike in Auckland.  And Sam is as bad as an English tabaloid writer... oh year thats right he writes for a tabaloid!
