From the Daily Mail 17/2/9

Mark Viduka looks certain to return to Australia to play for the Melbourne Knights at the end of the season after Newcastle told him to forget a new contract.

The striker has only played five games this season due to injury.

I don't think Viduka would be worth it. He was a great player, no doubt. But he's too injury prone. Plus he wouldn't be cheap, so if I were them I'd invest that kind of money on someone else.

Are they suggesting that by then there will be a second Melbun team in the A-League?  Or that actual State League team.  The first I could see happening.  He's definitely going to leave Newcastle

Supposedly a second Melbourne team has been given the right to lead the bid (I can't remember the exact words) for expansion of the A-League, but this isn't it.

This is the ex-NSL, now Victorian Premier League side.

Always liked Marko. Played Champions League for us in 98/99, though don't think he got any goals in that competiton that season.
