Dunno if this is the right place but oh well.

Does anyone actually read match day programmes?  Be they the Nix ones or ASB Prem ones....

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.

I read the ASB Premiership ones a lot more then the Nix ones.

This is because:

  • I never get a Nix one.
  • I am MUCH more familier with the players and the teams in the A League than the ASB Premiership, so the team lists and the articles on players and their backgrounds etc is of MUCH more interest to me at ASB Premiership games.
  • I have the Ultimate A League app which gives me all of the players, stats setc. that I need on my phone, and I don't have an equivalent app for the ASB Premiership.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Yes.

To be clear, this is because of the following two bullet points - which in summary mean:

  1. I need one MUCH less at A League games, and
  2. if/when I do need one (to check player details/stats etc.) I have the Ultimate A League app on hand to easily find what I need to know.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

only very occasionally. I don't go out of my way to get one, but when I do come across it I sometimes read it.

This means I dont read them at Westpac but occasionally do at Davey F and Newtown park as they give them to you free on entry.

Hello, just stumbled across this thread.

I would be interested to hear what fans expect, or most enjoy, in a match programme these days.

I think our programmes have become a little bit more sterile and non-controversial that the sometimes anarchic history of the 1970-90s when editors and columnists were quite relaxed on really firing up on the issues of the day. But I can also understand the reasons why.

The following is an old blog post on 10 key elements of a match programme.

But there's nothing like hearing what others think....

I've also written some of my thoughts about the role of match programmes here...

Declaration of interest: I have edited or contributed to a number of match programmes over many decades.

Before the digital age the Match Day programme would have been a major source of info on the team, its progress and that of the opponents.

These days its really as bwtcf said.

We used to get a few of the $5 programmes back in 2008, 09, maybe even 10.  Kids would read them, I'd flick through but not really read much.

However I really really treasured my 1973 Spurs vs Man City programme and am quite gutted that it got lost many years back.

Phoenix programme sales have transitioned to WGTN United over the AFC break.

Thanks to all the regulars over the years.

Time for pre game drinks and seeing KO live.
