EXCLUSIVE: Channel 10�s HD sports channel will launch a new world football show early in 2010 in a major boost for the sport in this country.
au.fourfourtwo.com understands the Ten-HD program will begin airing in February and will have a global perspective on football while still focusing on the A-League and Socceroos.
The show is part of a push by Channel 10 to broaden football's appeal - particularly the A-League. Currently, the league is restricted to a subscription TV deal with Fox Sport signed at the start of the new competition in 2005 but set to run out in 2012.
In 2009 Network Ten introduced its free-to-air 24-hour sports channel, ONE featuring a number of sports including AFL, netball, swimming, athletics and Formula One.
ONE has also shown some Bundesliga and Serie A matches but a dedicated football programme is a major step forward for fans crying out for free-to-air football coverage.

You should point out to the crew here that Channel 10 and its digital channel One, are free-to-air, which is why this show is a big deal here. Besides SBS and the ABC, the other main free-to-air channels in Australia have ignore the game for many years.
