So?

Sorry. Couldn't care less.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

At a glance

1977: Assistant coach of the Canadian national team
1979-1987: Youth coach at the German Football Federation
1987-1990: Assistant coach of the German national team (and national youth coach) Winners of the FIFA World Cup
1990-1991: Assistant coach of Olympique Marseille (French Ligue 1 Winners)
1991-1992: VfL Bochum
1993-1994: Fenerbahe Istanbul
1995-1996: Urawa Red Diamonds
1997-1998: Kocaelispor (Turkish Cup Winner)
1998-2003: Canada National team Head Coach and Technical Director (2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup Winners)
2004-2006: Director of the FIFA Technical Department
2007-2008: Urawa Red Diamonds (AFC Champions League 2007 Winners)
2008-2010: FIFA Technical Department

On paper an excellent appointment especially when you consider he was the Director of the FIFA Technical Department

Experience in Europe & Asia, experience in youth development, willing to relocate to Aus and proven ability to get the best out of an average/weak playing list (ie, Canada). Could be a Winner. Lowy and Buckley are in a much better position then any of us to make a call on who is the best possible Coach for the Socceroos, now and into the future. Lets get behind the new Coach and the Socceroos. Welcome to Australia Holger !!!

Part of the plan. Didn't want a "name" coach.

Some of the reaction from the Aussies is hilarious!

sample:
this is a joke of an appointment! of all the star studded names thrown up we get an unemployed clown! world class he is not! peckerman, o'neil, etc.. and we get some bratwurst! not happy

It's as if some of them expected Sir Alex or Jose to give up club football and come manage their superstar programme.

Actually seems like a fairly good appointment to me, but time will tell.

He's won a world cup (admittedly as assistant), Coached Canada to CONCACAF glory and won an ACL.

Hardly a bad CV....

Why all the fuss. I saw the interview this afternoon. Listened to what he had to say. Seemed OK to me, but how can anyone knock him yet. Have to give the guy a chance to prove himself.
I suspect that most of the knocks are because he is the Aussie coach, regardless of who he is. If it had been Martin O'Neill people would still have been bagging him.

As I said, I think its probably quite a good appointment.  What I find hilarious is that it appears that many Aussies think that it is an absolute disgrace that they didn't get O'Neill or maybe even Jose.  They seemed to be demanding a 'high profile' coach as if they deserve it by right.
