Loss of revenue and loss of purpose for NZFC are two big
factors to consider here!
For Nix is easy of course they should be representing
O-League!
Replace the loss of revenue and give the NZFC teams
something else to play for and it may work.
The Phoenix would play against winner of NZFC to
legitimise the selection of the Phoenix and to share ticket
revenues. This would give some NZFC players a taste of
playing prof' team here in NZ as well. If home and away then
we could get the Phoenix out of Wellington for other fans to see!!
Hey, the Supporters club would grow!!
Phoenix would share a little prize money with NZ
Football also as a way to help protect revenue.
Hmm how does the fact that Nix are playing in Asian league
impact on this??

lol this debate has barely even started, yet i am already getting
annoyed by it. Although there is a point to what the NZFC is
saying, there is no way in hell anyone in the NZFC will compete at
the club world cup, no way. Even with that top NZFC XI idea they'll
still get hammered.
THe Phoenix are the only ones who will have a chance, yet bureaucracy will block them from competing
i.e. say goodbye to Oceania's playing rights in 2 years
its not about picking there act up, they're not good enogh to compete with a professional team whos the top in there area, end of story. An Amateur team will not pull off a fairytale in this sposrt

shouldnt they compete in their own league first?

The O-League is a joke, the sooner Oceania becomes part of Asia the
better.
Then we can look forward to Phoenix Asian Champions League games in the middle of the Stupor 14 rugby season.

sigh, thats a relly week arguement and u know it, its got nothing to do with us competing in this league, which by the way if u havent noticed, we are, despite being 6th. Its about being a New Zealand based team who should and would be able to do a heck of a lot better than an amateur side

Good post Terrier, and I'm not just saying that because I agree
with your points
I TOTALLY want to
see us playing an NZFC team for an O-League place - it means
getting to make a road trip for the Phoenix without paying to fly
to Australia! Not that it's an issue anyway when TW win the NZFC
this year
That being said, we've already been discussing the issue here:
