�We are bringing some of the country�s most gifted jugglers and football artists to Wellington to put on a great show. Some of these guys are incredible,� said organiser, Mike Greene.

�But it�s not just about watching in awe. We�d love people to have a go themselves, show us their tricks and maybe take home a prize courtesy of Nike,� added Greene.

Wellington�s inaugural Freestyle Football competition kicks off at 2pm, September 14 at Queens Wharf.

Eight of New Zealand�s most gifted freestylers will compete to be named inaugural champion. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges including OlyWhites coach Stu Jacobs.

About Freestyle Football

�          Freestyle Football is the art of juggling with a football using feet, knees, lower legs, chest, shoulders, and head while simultaneously performing creative, skilful moves and keeping the ball airborne.

�          Freestyle Football has existed for some time, but it has seen a surge in popularity as a result of global advertising campaigns and digital media sharing.

�          Several years ago, Nike began an advertising campaign which relied heavily on the freestyle form of football, including video clips of freestyle performances and featuring famous players such as Ronaldinho and Edgar Davids. Shortly after, Nike launched a freestyle football competition on the internet "Nike Football", in which participants could submit their own clips and receive feedback from a worldwide audience.

�          In the YouTube era, many previously unknown freestyle talents have risen to prominence via the internet.
