The simple thing is for the top two OFC teams to go into the two final qualifying groups of the AFC so these AFC teams would simply lose having a bye, but would simply play the OFC team in their group and increase the competitive nature. That way, AFC hasn't have to change much with their playing schedule and also, it removes the need for a 5th AFC vs 1st OFC home/away playoff. The 3rd placers in the two groups will still have to have a home/away playoff for the 5th place.
Only the OFC would have to change their schedule in time before the AFC final qualifying group stage. This way, it means we will retain our age group entry into the other world tournaments and the cost is only for the 5 away matches that would be offset a bit by the gate-takings for the 5 home matches. I can see it being popular with the NZ Public, if we play Japan/ Korea etc than the OFC country because they were fairly regular WC final tournament attendees.
