When will Waitakere get over their Auck City hoodoo?!

They dominated the Oceania game after getting back from 1 goal down. Koprivcic looked good for Waitakere, with some great touches, and was worth the two goals he scored.

But Waitakere went to sleep, and allowed Auck City to retain their unbeaten record against Waitakere ('boardroom victory' doesn't count).

Waitakere should beat Auck City in the final at North Harbour Monday week, given the way Auck has been performing in the NZFC and elsewhere, and given the quality of players Auck has.  But should is the operative word.  I certainly woudn't bet against Auck remaining unbeaten against Waitak.

Cain's comments about the winners of the NZFC league should be called the champions tells me he's not confident of beating Auck - which must be a worry for Waitak supporters - almost like he's making excuses in advance.

Will Team Wellington ever get over their hoodoo - we should be doing better than we have.

Yes, on paper Wellington have always looked good at start of year, and have had some great results against top sides.  But too inconsistent.  What is it?  Players?  Coaching?  Club setup?  A puzzle.

For the first 70 minutes there is no better team in New Zealand, and the football they play is gorgeous... after 70 minutes though... O Noes...

Mick might be a good coach - but he doesn't seem to be a good manager.

TW are usually pretty impressive in the first twenty minutes - and in the last twenty minutes you alway hope they're winning by at least 4 otherwise hold on to your seat.

From what I have seen New Zealand clubs seem to rule over the Oceania region.

"From what I have seen New Zealand clubs seem to rule over the Oceania region"

Not quite, eg:

2006 Oceana Club Championship, Auckland City 1st, AS Pirae from French Polonesia 2nd, scoreline in the final only 3-1, and in the previous game only 1-0.

The other NZ team only came 3rd, having conceded a draw in the group stage against a Fijian Team.

In 2005 the NZ team didn't even make it past the group stage after losing 1-0 to AS Pirae (see above), a team which Sydney FC smashed 6-0.

So NZ does not quite dominate over Oceana.

Nah, but Auckland do.

Three for me, and two for them.

They played their final by almost taking your lot down in the opening game... seriously Tintin unless you know the story behind that tournament and how close Auckland's amateurs came to beating your vaunted Bling you might want to avoid that fight. Hard News2007-04-10 18:20:31

Yeah seconds away from a 2-2 draw with you lot. Bunch of carpenters, plumbers and TV producers almost beat your precious bunch of fairies.

Anyway you hardly dominated the tournament. You only beat Magenta 2-0 in the final.Top f**king notch pal, did you pay them off or something??

Three for me, and two for them.

If that was their only loss, well, sure, not too bad a result. But you also lost to AS Pirae, which is my main point.

Sydney FC - AS Magenta (Nouma) 2 - 0
AS Magenta (Nouma) - AS Pirae 4 - 1
AS Pirae - Auckland City 1 - 0

My point being that Magenta was not a bad side, having beaten a side 4-1, the team which beat your guys 1-0.
Based on the slightly dodgy logic of those results on that day we would have beaten Auckland 6-0 or 7-1.

But still, every team has an off day, eg, look at Sydney's 2-1 loss to ?Persik Kediri? today. Shocking. So I'll ignore that loss and admit that NZ usually dominates over the Oceana region. I was just mentioning the exceptions.

I'd see the doctor about that - it might spread to defending Waitakere if you're not careful.
