Oceania -Pro's & Con's

Tis discussed all over the place but could not find a thread where the specific question was to discuss the pro's and con's of Oceania ... and if there is another option ... ie would Asia accept Oceania ... should Asia be broken into two parts...i.e. east & west ...

Read this the other day ... first some simple maths.. at 10% a number doubles every 7 and a bit times... As the Asian middle class grows the projected growth in football player numbers is expected to grow by at least 10% per year..

Registered Asian player numbers today ... 82 million

 seven years time  ... 164 million

fourteen years time ... 328 million...

twenty years ... easily 400 million...

This kinda puts into some perspective where Asian football will be in a few years...

Football ratings in Asia just keep growing with the ACL final having over 30 million in China alone... 

When Australia played Japan the Asian audience was said to be over 500 million...

Shit TV rights, shit sponsorship, shit crowds, shit public interest, shit player standard, shit professionalism, shit venues, shit future

Asia

Opposite of he above

Huge upswell of opinion in NZ about needing to get the AW's into a higher quality of playing standard. At the minimum NZ in to the final leg of the Asian WC playoffs. Even Herbert is calling for more NZ involvement in Asia.

Trouble is FIFA are not interested....I think NZ got awarded the U20 WC in 2015 partly to keep NZF quiet about getting out of Oceania.

A sneaky way to do it would be to give Oceania a full spot on the World Cup (which should happen anyway, otherwise it's hardly a WORLD cup). Then watch Asia lobby for Oceania to be absorbed into Asia to gain the full World Cup spot. 

As an interesting side discussion, if the above did happen..would we want to go to Asia and get more competitive games, or keep Oceania and a nearly guaranteed World Cup spot every 4 years? 

I think that geopolitically it would be good to be part of Asia.
