So according to this, only Sky TV have the rights to Serie A in NZ.

BeIn doesn't have the rights so basically I either sign up to Sky and get basic + Sky sport for over $50/month or I keep streaming live/replay matches when I get home?

Is this correct?

Thanks!

Yes that's correct.

Here is my understanding:

SKY Football Coverage

Champions League

All Whites/Football Ferns/World Cups

Europa League

A-League

Handa Premiership?  Not sure

Serie A

MLS

beIN Football Coverage

EFL

La Liga

Liege 1 (French)

some bundasliega

SPFL

League cup (to be confirmed)

plus some other bits and pieces

ESPN

Still has FA Cup as far as I know

also has some MLS and south american football

Quite a good football lineup that. Though limited coverage of some of those leagues. Worth switching from spark to sky now around champions league knockout time.

I wonder if events like the men’s football World Cup will be on the sky now service or if it’ll get the same treatment it did with fan pass where it was chucked on popup channels that fanpass customers couldn’t access?

Is your last statement correct? I specifically bought Fanpass for the World Cup, and don't recall not being able to watch games because they were on the pop-up channels (unless this happened for simultaneous games, in which case this would have been a minority of games, with the option for other games on the usual channels).

Guess it’s not correct then! Not sure what sport I was thinking of there.

I think your right but only for the last pool games which were played concurrently - I think games were Sport 4 from memory and then when it clashed the other game would go to Sport 5 or something.

Ah ok. Maybe won’t be a problem with more sport channels now.

That sounds more like. Just checked it out on my phone...looks great and only US$5/mo!!!

Do you know if you can watch full match replays without spoilers? Some webisites will show you replays but will tell you the score first...

Is ESPN+ available outside the USA or does one need to use a VPN? If VPN is needed, do they also require an American address/phone number to set up an account with them?

USA only so I would have to use a VPN if I signed up. As I haven't done that yet, I'm not sure about address/phone number...

I'm also worried that Espn+ doesn't appear to have ALL the Serie A matches - from reading their website I get the feeling that big matches will be on the regular Espn channel. Also, I'm unsure if you need a subscription to ESPN first (eg, ESPN plus being an add-on).

Keen to learn more about Kayosport, though AU$25 isn't exactly cheap either.

Just to add the bits i know. You dont need an address/phone number to set it up. Just an email address and NZ Credit Card.

It's completely separate from normal ESPN, so you dont need a subscription through them, just ESPN+
They do say that the big games will be moved to the main ESPN channel, but i never noticed it with the Serie A.

The only game i recall being moved to "main ESPN" was the All Blacks vs Ireland.
P.S Forgot to mention that they have All Blacks + Super Rugby on there too

Happy to pass on my set up, if you're after is football then there might be better options but for sheer amount of sport i watch (NRL, A-League, Cricket, etc) it's great value for money. Best set up is an Apple TV (about $200) and then use a SmartDNSProxy service (about $4 a month).

Just a word of warning - if you're contemplating signing up to Kayosport, speak with someone who already uses their service first...

The online reviews are TERRIBLE....

I use Kayo all the time and have had no issues with it, however i do follow some of the forums and people do have issues, but personally I've had none. There is a 14 day free trial if you want to try it, to see if it works for you...

That's good to know - thanks for giving your first hand experience.

I'm likely to give the free trial a go but I have to say reviews are scathing and I'm not filled with confidence (including people complaining of no contact from the provider when they've had issues and of being charged after cancelling their membership).

I'm likely to give the free trial a go but I have to say reviews are scathing and I'm not filled with confidence (including people complaining of no contact from the provider when they've had issues and of being charged after cancelling their membership).

I did have one issue one evening when i went to watch an NRL game, but looking at Twitter i could see it was an outage issue which lasted around 30mins.

I contacted them after i saw someone had said they complained and got a 50% refund off their monthly payment. So i tried the same and they said something like 'We can see you are streaming from NZ, Kayo is only for streaming in Australia, and this would be the source of your issue' Which obviously it wasn't ,but i shut up after that. I use a Smart DNS Proxy service rather than a VPN.

But that's the only time i can recall an issue, and I've watched a number of Warriors games, I watched the AB/Wallabies test last weekend, have watched Test cricket, Sheffield Shield cricket, Big Bash, IPL, Nix FFA Cup Game, bits of a Championship game last weekend, an NBA game and a number of documentaries, some of the ESPN 30 for 30 docos, the new Warriors doco done by Sky, a few cricket ones (Aus v India rivalry and Eng v AU rivalry).

I love their key moments feature for cricket. If you start watching at any time, you can click the 'key moments' link and it shows wickets, and boundaries.

Annoyingly Channel 9 have the Ashes rights, I subscribed to Willow TV for that, but find their streams variable as hell, after trying 9Gem App on the Apple TV, which initially didn't work (hence the Willow sub), but then did the following night, and that's been pretty good.

So yeah i find it fine, and it's a hell of a service. It has some limitations, there needs be a search feature as sometimes it's hard to find what you're after.

All in all, for $25 a month it's good value for money. Being able to stream all the Foxtel Sports channels is good too.

However I have seen online complaints about dealing with their support team, but i figure that I'm accessing it i guess not entirely in line with their T's and C's so i put up with some inconveniences. Although would be a different issue if additional payments after cancellation occurs.

Yea, watching the cricket on it now. I had Fanpass already which automatically switched over to Sky Sport Now. Good quality, and seems reliable, Fanpass was 100% reliable for me, so I assume this will be too. Great that you can watch anything on demand on any channel from the last 24 hours. They are putting up some separate highlight videos too for some things, like for Day 1 of the cricket test there's a 12 minute highlights video on there.

Why would you?

Sky starter $25.99 + Sky sport $31.99 = total $58

Sign up for Sky Go for free and 3 of you can watch for less than $20 each per month and someone (eg. my dad) gets sky at home for free.

Less of a hassle and commitment to sign up month to month. I’d switch between spark sport and Sky sport now depending on what’s on. Though with the much higher price point, I’d only get sky sport now very occasionally.

I haven't had proper sky in years, how does it work with this and watching sports stuff from earlier in the day or the night before?

Yellow Fever Football fanatics-  just a heads up if you subscribe to SKY Sport you get a free beIN login - head to the app or the website and click on the SKY login and use the same credentials you use to login to SKY go and you should get in.

Phoenix on free to air.

How good is this move?!

I mean it's only two games, but it's finally good to see sport other than rugby & league be offered up on free to air. Not all of us can afford/want a Sky subscription...

Would be brilliant in future if they could do delayed coverage for something like all Phoenix home games, but will take this as a start.

Great start, would love for there to one day be a FTA highlights show with A league and maybe overseas kiwis games from the week

For those of us on Sky Sports Now would be intresting to hear your experience on A-league viewing. Last nights Adelaide vs Sydney FC game was good but West Sydney vs Mariners is completely unwatchable.

So many buffers for this game and I'm on fibre, VPN+Youtube works better. I've contacted Sky to see if they can give Sky Sports Now customers access to beinconnect as I want to see a difference. Tommorow is gonna suck if its like it is for this game. :(

i think if you are a SKY Sports now customer that you do get beIN connect access?  have you tried logging in via the SKY login button on beIN connect using your SKY Sports now credentials?

Nope tried that and I get nothing, I had a chat to them on facebook about it when it was first announced and they said they're working on getting access to Sky Sports Now customers. It really sucks because the football content is segregated meaning Satellite Sports customers get the better football content.

No other sports have issue on their platform, in fact replays are really hard to find on Sky Sports Now for A-league and NZ Football content. On Bein Sport Connect I can see all the replay content but I don't have the permission to watch it

We signed up for this in August and have had no issues until this past weekend. The games were totally unwatchable. The stream was constantly freezing. We ended up watching on a different stream with lower resolution. Have been in email contact with sky but they seem clueless as to what I'm even talking about. Not keen to keep paying $39 per month for this kind of mess.

so it happened once over a 6 month period and you're suggesting its a mess? I agree that the occurrence is annoying but once over 6 months is nothing unusual for any internet streaming service.
