I'd really like to know how much the BeIn subscription would be. I used Sky primarily to watch Roma and the Nix away games. I could get the latter from YT with a VPN (even paying for one it's only $100 or so per year) and save a ton of money.
Subscriptiion details for beIN Sport Connect here:
https://connect-nz.beinsports.com/en/subscribe

MONTHLY PLAN
1 week FREE trial for new customers
NZ$14.99
Billed Monthly
On the last day of the free trial, you'll automatically roll onto the recurring monthly plan.

ANNUAL PLAN
Yearly Plan - Special Offer
NZ$129.99 (Usually $179.99)

Billed yearly. For the first year, then reverting to the standard price plan.

Offer must be redeemed by 19/08/2023. *Saving compared to 12 months of monthly subscription price.

Champions, Europa and Conference Leagues are on Bein Sports this year
All football that beIN is showing here:
https://connect-nz.beinsports.com/en/competitions
I see that they also have some motor racing.
But no la Liga, Bundesliga, FA Cup, Scottish Cup or European and South American World Cup qualifiers or European Championship qualifiers as used to be on beIN on Sky.

UEFA Champions League
UEFA Europa League
UEFA Europa Conference League

Copa Libertadores       Copa Sudamericana     Scottish League Cup

Neither sky or bein are advertising La Liga or Bundesliga? Where can we watch these this season
I saw a comment from bein on facebook that Bundesliga is yet to announce who will be their partner, and that bein will not have La Liga.

Further to the subscription details Pete posted above, there's a discount for $12.99 a month for 6 months or $119.99 for 12 months for Sky Sport subscribers. Just click on login instead of subscribe and you can find the Sky offer. You have until 31 January to take it up. I'll probably take up the monthly deal closer to the start of the CL and then cancel once Arsenal are out as nothing else on it I'm bothered about paying for.

is sky sport now any good?

i'm considering ditching my (old) sky box and replacing it with sky sport now and a bein sub. savings would be about $30 a month.

i'm hearing it's not really 'on demand', which is not good for footy lovers because pretty much everything we do is on demand

i'm also considering ditching sky altogether, going with bein and subscribing to liverpool tv to get liverpool games. this will mean missing phoenix games, heaven forbid

I see that Sky have picked up the rights to some of the football that used to feature via beIN Sports.
Sky Sport has three Dutch Eredivisie games this weekend.
Starting 5.50 am tomorrow morning.
All on Sky Sport 7, ch.57 which used to be the beIN channel.
Good to see that they are keeping ch.57 as a 24 hour football channel.

App is a bit ordinary. Skip button is 30s which is too long for football. 10s skip would be great
not sure your ‘on demand’ question. It has the guide, you can go back 24 hours and watch anything. If you stop it half way through and won’t to come back it doesn’t remember where you were so you need to skip forward to where you were.
Lots of things have replays and highlights which might stay for a week or more though.
As an example, Premier league last year had 3-5 minute quick looks, 12-20 minute proper highlights, plus replay for each game, plus a 1hr Saturday review / weekend review, so pretty decent content wise right there. Although sometimes a bit tardy putting the highlight packages up. 3am games Monday morning I might try to watch a highlight package, but not all games might be up before work.
I run it through appleTV, never any streaming problems. Works ok on my phone too.

Sky must have been fielding lots of complaints / queries about beIN Sport going.
There's now a whole page on their website dedicated to it with numerous topics relating to it:
https://help.sky.co.nz/s/article/beIN-SPORTS-Changes
"Coverage of key football events currently found on beIN Sky Sport 7 including the Wellington Phoenix and Men’s & Women’s A-League, UEFA Nations League & European Qualifiers remain on Sky Sport ."
Personally I'm pretty chuffed that UEFA international matches remain on Sky.
And as a Kiwi of Dutch and English parentage who grew up in a household where football was always a major point of interest, it's almost like Sky are anticipating what I'd like them to screen now that they have started showing the Eredivisie this weekend.
The other thing I'd like them to screen is the UEFA Champions League (and the Europa League) so I've just sent them a message enquiring about the possibility of this.
Worth showing Sky that there is interest in them screening this.
Not many Kiwis will subscribe to beIN Sport Connect and the fact that they have the UEFA club comps isn't well publicized.
So maybe beIN would be interested in doing a deal with Sky just for screening those comps to recoup some of the rights money they've paid?

Bundesliga is now showing on the beIN sports connect website, so presumably they won the rights. Not sure what the outcome for LaLiga will be, possibly could be done through youtube?

La Liga screens for free on ITV in the UK.
To watch the football on ITV in NZ all you need is a VPN such as Nord, Pure VPN or Surfshark which all have discount subscriptions.
The benefit of a VPN subscription is that you can also access lots of free content on the BBC iPlayer, Channel 4, Aussie TV websites, geo-blocked You Tube football content etc.
La Liga matches here on ITV:

One of the biggest issues with BeIN is the image quality, have a look at Whirlpool Forums (from Aussie), plenty of people moaning about it. I remember watching a few Nix games a couple of years ago when you got a BeIN login with a SKY subscription and the quality was pretty poor and it doesn't sound like it's much better now.

I got the Bein deal which has been extended to August 31st. Hopefully this weekend I'll see if I invested in a lemon. Very disappointed that Sky are putting their fees up again. $393 a year for Sky sport just to watch the Phoenix or $129 a year to watch the EFL etc and watch the Nix via Youtube and a VPN.

PS: tomorrow night I hope to watch Plymouth V Southampton.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Yer I might do the same. For those that have had Skygo and SSN before, are they pretty much the same?

Considering dropping the Skysports (therefore the Skygo) add-on on my box sub and getting this instead, will save $150.

Hahahahaha, these absolute useless rip off merchant cods.

That will be a $10 increase per month in the space of less than a year. No thanks.

Saved them the hassle of cancelling at the last moment at the end of January and did it today.

Getting pretty expensive to watch Marcus Rashford jog around doing nothing a few times a month...

Weird timing. I would've thought that sending these emails out right after most of the major sport seasons wrap-up (Rugby, Golf, F1), and coming into Christmas is the stupidest time to remind everyone they're paying $X per month for a subscription that's only going to get more expensive. Even though the increase doesn't come into next year it basically reminds people to stop paying over summer and then probably not come back next year.

If you cancel sky, I know you are meant to take the box back. But if you don’t  is it a major and can you still watch your free to air through it and the sky aerial?

Makes the $299.99 deal for the year they offered for Black Friday even better in hindsight.

i just dropped Sky Sport this week because they have no football in the off season this year until the EPL starts again in August...
(apart from a handful of European friendlies before the Euros)
Seems strange that Sky have broadcast all the Euro qualifiers but don't have the Finals.
I just found out that the Euros from Germany are on TVNZ (all games live):

Sky is doomed, TV3 are showing pretty much the Discovery Channel. So bye bye Sky. Loyal customers should be getting a better deal from them but I look at my $110 per month and for what?? I subscribe to Sky Sports and the basic package. If Sky really cared about me and customers in similar scenarios, I/we'd be paying around $50 per month for it.

As long as Sky has the buying power it does and keeps most of the sport that NZ'rs want to watch they'll survive. I'm stuck with them unfortunately as it's the only way I can get all the sports I follow in one-ish place.
If someone somewhere created an easy access optioin that gave the same or better solution for less I'd jump in a heartbeat.

Well I got a Chromecast and never looked back. I now cast YouTube, and occasionally I might subscribe to a streaming service for a while. I'm more than happy with that.

I mean let's be honest, we've seen it all by now (cooking shows, travel shows, history and discovery channel used to be good 20 years ago, but nowadays the amount that's recycled, not to mention all the fairytales about alien life and shark week 25 and what not...)

You're paying for so much trash.

I do get a season pass to watch the ALM and that's money well spent.

Slightly off-topic but it is becoming appalling the lack of coverage we get in New Zealand of top sports. No La Liga last season, no Copa America and now no way to watch Wimbledon either.

I know we are a small market, however its not fair to have any method of viewing these events from NZ

Their image quality is so bad though, it's a poorly designed and run system.

Didn't realise they only had CL for one season. It's not listed on Sky either. Is there any info on who, if anyone, has UEFA competitions for this season?
