$68 a month for my sky and sky sport here.  You are inflating the price a fair bit.

Edit: Not HD, but I doubt that it is $40 a month.

I pay $97 or so... how do you get it for $68?

Is it through vodafone?

How do you pay so little?

I pay $77.51 for Sky basic + Sky sports with no extra channel add ons,  And I pay $15 for the cheapest possible mysky so I can record and delete games because I saw the score and dont want to watch that f**king wreck like AW's vs Myanmar.

You do get a steep discount through Voda, but not as much as they would have you believe.

I am with Voda but just ditched Sky.

My monthly bill was $169. That covered uncapped Cable and Sky Sport HD + sharkhouse Voda T Box.

Voda would tell you that your Sky component is ~$70. But it's not. I cut the Sky and they dopped my bill to $99.

And I said: that's ridiculous, I can get uncapped Fibre for $80. And they didn't even try to argue, they dropped Cable down to $79. Then gave me a $10 discount for being a Voda mobile customer (I'm not, I have a work phone), so I'm paying $69/mo for my uncapped Cable (10/100).

So while Voda might jiggle the numbers for marketing purposes, you can definitely save $1200 a year if you were on that deal that I was on and then get rid of Sky.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

New Zealand Football are hailing a deal which will see Sky TV screen live games in the ASB Premiership national league.

The national body are set to announce on Thursday that Sky will carry live coverage of 32 of the competition's 59 matches in the 2015-16 championship.

The premiership will be an eight-team competition this season with Wanderers SC dropping out after two years in the league to provide matchplay for New Zealand's under-20 World Cup squad.

Champions Auckland City and crosstown rivals Waitakere United will meet in the first televised game on Sunday, November 8 at North Harbour Stadium.

Sky will also screen the single-game semifinal series with the former two-legged playoffs now scrapped, and a Thursday night grand final on March 10.

So will all those who were quite happy to dump Sky TV now be saying, "Oh shark"

In a word: no.

interesting viewpoint - maybe the wrong question for ol'sole to ask - the question i might ask is how many people won't cancel with some local football now on TV?

At the end of the day everyone has there own reasons for not having SKY and some people are happy with the alternatives online.

Bottom line is this is a great announcement for NZF and I hope it's well viewed so we can continue to have local football on TV.

I'm going to can sky when we leave our flatmates because I can't afford the whole bill.

But seeing them pick up the ASB premiership makes me sad as I would have liked to watch some of that on the telly.

If I do go back it will be a serious factor in the decision.

Just got Sky TV put back on this week for the A-League, ASB Premiership, Euro Championship qualifiers etc.

Only $39 / month including Sky Sport !!!

Plus free My Sky + for a year.

You can get Sky Basic plus Sport for only $39 / month by phoning this marketing company who work for Sky:

Phone 0800 475 988

You might have to keep phoning back until someone answers (what I did) and can also leave a message for them.

Probably better to phone on a week day too.

Only a six month contract but you get the reduced price for one year.

In other words you can terminate it after six months or if you want, carry on getting the reduced price and free My Sky + for one year.

(You probably will have to give Sky TV some notice before they will disconnect you)

Note that you can't get this offer by phoning the standard Sky TV numbers, only the number above.

Offer open to anyone who has never had Sky or (like me) has not had Sky TV in the last 60 days (minimum period of 30 days notice plus 60 days with Sky disconnected)

Offers which the marketing company has going:

Free My Sky + for a year with all offers:

Sky Basic = $29 / month

Sky Basic + one premium channel package (e.g. Sport or Movies) = $39 / month

Sky Basic + two premium channels = $49 / month

that's a decent deal. 60% off!

Here's hoping it's a sign sky are moving away from their current model.

It's amazing what a little competition can do.

I think so - I already had the dish and wiring in my house but there was no charge for the installation man coming and connecting up my new My Sky+ box.

I asked them on facebook 5 days ago and so did my friend yesterday. We were both ask to give our input via that email address.

On my returned email from lightbox they ask to pass it onto other A-League/Nix's fans. They really want some input from fans over here.

I really didn't expect a response as I was asking about a rumour. However I take it there more to this than a what I thought.

Well, without the Phoenix, the Aussies will find it hard to give away the A-League rights for NZ.

Which only adds to their short sightedness. We are approaching a point where there may have actually been some competition for rights for the first time (in a while) in NZ. A commitment to 10 years would have made competition more likely, add an extra NZ team and it would have become very likely. This would have increased the value of the rights.

They are throwing away some massive potential, just as it was so close to becoming reality. All to (potentially) get another few thousand viewers for FOX in Australia.

Bone headed short sightedness.

I got my sky account today and an extra $30 had gone out on the bill - $102.51 all up, I had been getting Sky Sport for 3 months as a sign up deal and was going to upgrade to mysky. I had a second decoder for the kids to watch cartoons. Both decoders were basic ones. But with their lethargic I don't give a f.u.c.k attitude, I have canned one basic decoder and one Skt Sports account. I am getting a refund too. So in future I will be billed $49.00 for one basic decoder - until such time I ditch that too.

Yet they don't care. They are losing customers and their arrogance just doesnt register. Sky Muppets. I will miss watching the A League games but that is all. EPL gone. Cheers Sky, as if I haven't had enough bad news this week re:The FFA brainfart.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Do they ever tweet anything that isn't Rugby related?

As a side note was an article on Stuff where research had been done showing ~16% of Sky's current subscribers were contemplating dumping it after the Rugby World Cup...

They'll be happy to not have to pay out for A League anymore. Costs go down, they'll increase prices again and can't imagine the numbers cancelling for this reason will be very high.

Simple for me. If the Nix go, SKY goes too, and I won't miss it. I don't give a rat's arse about watching the A League if the Nix aren't involved. If there was a Sydney derby being played in my back yard, I'd close the curtains.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Just a reality check here for the misinformed and online geeks.

Everyone having a go at SKY and cancelling subscriptions in short means televevision ratings fall for Phoenix games and other A league games as well (One of Gallops key metrics and issues). Probably his biggest I suspect.

So along with everyone saying we need to buy more tickets, we need to buy more club memberships maybe we should also be watching more A league on Sky and for many that will mean having a subscription to Sky.

That is until something better comes along online that meets Mr Gallops metrics and provides his organisation more cash. At the moment however guys that is Sky. End of story.

I admit I don't do everything that I can do to help the club (time, being busy, overseas and living 9 hours drive away makes that a little difficult). I do however wear my yellow fever t shirt with pride in Auckalnd and overseas, will go to games in Auckland and hey yes I consider the fact I have SKY and turning it on to enjoy the game as helping doing my little bit in supporting the NIx.

And of course adding some intelligent comment to dumb thread titles such as this one :)

All that is well and good but until someone else coughs up the Bucks, can screen these games, pay Harry's wage, take the sponsors products to an audience, this is what we have, what we need to get behind and is what we are being assessed against.

And change is not always good mate.

Someone wants to change our team to a team from Sydney, remember
