I doubt he'll be back, he'll never be good enough. Same with Christie.

Three for me, and two for them.

I wouldnt take Mr Matherson's speculation (albeit based on information from a "source") as gospel lads.  It may well be true and wouldnt surprise many - but until you hear it from HQ ...

Its because of asshole reporters like that that give football a poor name in this country (other than the fact that some of it is sh*t to watch).

Cant think of anything positive to write so print a full page story with some half truths.

Old really wasn't up to scratch but imo its not fair to be so harsh. He's still young

"And they may yet be joined by goalkeeper Jason Spoonley."

This guy sure knows his football.

It hard to fly when your surrounded by turkeys.

In other words what back really looked good at the nix. Think about cleberson, looked decidedly average and yet he played in the Dutch Premier League.

Old id still young relatively, and by the all accounts did have a good u23 campaign for the Olympics. Maybe last years disappointments will turn him into a more hardened professional down the line?

A year ago Smeltz was sh*t aswell. atleast thats what his stats suggested.

The A-league is quite cut-throat, but nowhere near as much as the top leagues of the world. Little room for sentiment here. I won't bag Old, because he's obviously a decent type of guy, but it's a fair call to say he was found wanting too many times to be retainable. If he goes away and develops and becomes a better player for it, then that's great, and I'd be amongst the first to welcome him back if he came back a better player.

Its simple. Old is just not good enough to play in the A-League at this stage in his life. Who knows maybe he would be better off going back to the NZFC, realising what he would need to do to gain back a spot in the Nix, and then, maybe.

But as of last seasons performance, I dont know how many more mistakes he has to make before the guy gets cut.
He has to go.

The harsh reality is Stephen is not up to A-League standard - he had a chance, and good on him for chasing his dream, but he now needs to move on.

The even harsher reality is he is wasting a spot on the squad and is also using up valuable salary cap.

I hope the club and Stephen work out an arrangement that enables him to leave with dignity in tact but he needs to leave.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)
