absolutely brilliant news in front page story (not a bad photo either )

to me this shows the drive of this club to succeed and would be a huge boost for NZ football in general

very impressed, again, with Terry and Tony's focuas and drive and their ability to see beyond the obvious

all this and an Olywhites win to put Beijing on the horizon - not a bad day

When they say the youth team will be based in Aussie, would that mean it'd only develop Australian players, or mainly Australian players but a few Kiwi's too? loyalgunner2008-03-07 21:16:04

I (perhaps naively) read it as we'd send our best young Kiwi palyers over there to live for the season - but (sadly) you may have it right

for me (much as I  love the Phoenix) I want young new zealanders to benefit, if  possible

I suspect a mix... if you want to do it in Aus you may as well earn brownie points by helping Aus youngsters and try and sneak some from under local noses...

How's my driving? - Whine here

" As a club we could look to base 10 or so of our youngsters actually in Australia and then supplement them with senior players as and when that became necessary."

I think the way he has said this that our players from here would go and be based there, but it is worth clarifying

My reading of it is that the 10 players could all be kiwis!!!

If it does come off it will be a shame that we won't get to see them at the ROF.

It does sound like a logistical nightmare. If they are based say in Sydney and the senior Phoenix are playing the Roar at the ROF. Then does the Junior Roar go to Sydney to play the junior Phoenix? And what about the up to four seniors allowed to play at each game . They would have to fly to Sydney to join the juniors.....great for someones air miles.
