Unfortunaltey the political environment affects the way we watch
sport. The two are linked, we can't avoid that.

We are football fans as well as advocates for the game.
thanks to a political decision (we believe flawed) football nz could be crippled financially and we missed out on watching the All Whites at home. we didnt start it, but as football fans we didnt like it.
and we are not political, we are just standing up for our game.

BTW: isn't calling it a debacle a political opinion?

Ignoring the main point... on another thread you tell us you hate Yellow Fever, but here you refer to 'we'... conflicted perhaps ?

if a politician does something that is negative towards football -
it is a football matter
if a business does something that is negative towards football - it is a football matter
if a poster does something that is negative towards football - it is a football matter

its not football its fiji. its got nothing to do with football. he
just so happened a football player wasnt allowed into the new
zealand so fifa decided to cancel (postpone) the game... how that
becomes a football matter who knows. its a rule fiji has decided
against democracy and for that they should be punished. how do u as
the yellow fever political party condem that? u and the maori party
would create a good coalition thats for sure.

The impression I have here though is that this is not a protest at
the sanctions or the concept of sanctions, more at the fact that
they are applied differently to some sports than to others.
Rugby Sevens players are welcome and the president of Fijian netball is welcome despite them having much stronger links to the military than a goal keeper who's girlfrined has a father in the army.

as Baiter says - its the inconsistency
it's also the fact that there must be a fair whack of compensation due to FNZ
these two reasons mean we can and should be rarking this up!!
congrats to all those that are!

ok how the hell can u argue against a netballer with exactly if not more involvement with persons involved in the fijian goverment being allowed into the country, yet a goalkeeper is not?

If you bothered to read what we have said on the matter these
are the main issues:
- of course the sanctions are valid, but they need to be
sensibly and consistently applied (for example, a father of a
fiance leads to exclusion, but a son and husband does not)
- NZ Football should be compensated just as NZ cricket was
when zimbabwe were excluded by the govt
- The government will give the fijian 7s an exemption for
the Wellington 7s because it is a major event and NZ cannot
choose the opposition. How is the FIFA wrold cup qualifying
any different?
Nice to know that after 15 posts you feel apt to start
criticisng Yellow Fever. Good to know traditional NZ Football
fans are still alive and well
