Ex-Phoenix Star's China Job Hunt
EXCLUSIVE: Former Wellington and Adelaide United defender Kristian Rees is in China hoping to tie up a deal with a Chinese Super League club. The big 27-year-old defender rejected Phoenix's offer after last season's A-League and elected to find a new club with his agent Richie Hinton from Elite Sports Properties.

The pair have been in China these last few days.

Rees departed Adelaide United after the purge following John Kosmina's sacking following the Reds' 2007 Grand Final loss to Melbourne Victory.

After playing for powerhouse VPL side Whittlesea, Rees moved on a short-term deal to the New Zealand capital.

Taking Rees' place at the back of Ricki Herbert's side for next season will be new signings Socceroo Jon McKain and Jets star Andrew Durante.

Good luck to him,
I am rather gutted that he didn't stay, but it's the same everytime. Players come, players leave.
And to be honest, teams buy player, teams release players.
it's just how it goes

Best of luck to the Big Fella and I hope he finds the deal he's looking for. I thought he did a good job for us but he was only ever a short term fix, and once we'd set our sights on Durante and McKain he was always going to be on his way

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
