Ricki Herbert's book.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Ricki's new book "A New Fire" got a launch last night at the Phoenix shop. It's written by our kit man, sorry gear steward, Russell Gray. It's an OK read but the special bit of interest, to me at least , is the piece on the setting up of Wellington Phoenix FC.

Ricki pointed out that one of the attendees was Dave Chapman (hope that the name is right) who was the sole (it appears) NZ fan at our match against Estonia.

Is there a substitution with about 1/3rd of the book to go?

Fair play though - Ricki's profile may never be this high again, and if they fail to qualify for the WC there's every chance it will start a career slide for him as it has others.  So may as well get this in the market while he can.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Think I will hold off for the 'now including World Cup 2010 chapter' re-release in a couple of years...

Did you get Russell to sign it?

Is there a point in each chapter where there is a sentence that is superb, hits all the right buttons and in fact feels just like a stunning goal followed by ... Some very safe sentences. Until the end of the chapter. Which leaves you wondering: what if he had really gone for it?
