Sunderland boss Roy Keane will travel to New Zealand to work with the All Blacks rugby union side in June as part of his football pro licence. (Mail on Sunday)

if it happens it would be bloody good oportunity for NZ football to gain a bit of media (shame, he's not here for coaching involvement with football)

He'd certinly show all the players what a proifessional attitude is. Despite me thinking he was a psycho prick as a player, as a manager he has shown that he's a quick learner and very "old school" with things like team discipline (irony in that too).

I am really impressed with his management skills and I think Sunderland would do very well to tie him to a very long contract. Unlike Bryan Robson who's been a flop as a manager and is now a Man U show poney for important guests at Old T.

I agree.  I wonder if NZ Football will be able to get hold of him for a few hours.

As a Sunderland fan I am rather excited about this.  As the AB's are playing Ireland in Wellington I wonder if he will be here for any of his time.

The ABs wouldn't know what hit them if Keano was allowed to give them a bollocking!
I doubt Ted Henry is familiar with "The Hairdryer" lol

I think if he's allowed to do more than "just watch" them train the ABs will benefit more than Roy Keane will - NZRU have done pretty well to let this happen.

I can see him steaming mad at Richie McCaw givin away to many penalties already!

I think it would be cool if NZF or the Nix could get in on his visit and get some of his time.

A guest coaching session with the Nix or some coaching clinics with young up-and-coming players would be some great PR for football.

Would beat a line to meet him!
Even as a Hammer he has always been my favorite player, about time NZ got the REAL best former Man Utd player... ;)

just heard on Nat radio that Ricki played a role in setting up the all blacks connection for Keano

so - sounds like a possible positive spin-off for the Nix could be in the offing too

Yeah both Ricki and Roy were both on the same Uefa course and know each other personally. Thats were the connection is

Roy Keane is flying all the way out to NZ to learn how to choke!!!!

Apart from the rugby it would be good if he took the Phoenix boys for a training run.

So Roy takes over the 'nix and Ricki goes back to the AW full time then?

I'm just progressing the thread to the illogical conclusion...

Such a waste - Henry's a muppet. Hopefully he'll be the one doing most of the learning, not Keane!

(That's coming from both of my passports!)

After Keane's recent tirade at Alex Fergusson for blaming Man Utds FA Cup defeat on a refereeing decision, I'm a little surprised that he's so keen on learning from Graham Henry...

If**king hate Roy Keane, and I reckon they shouldn't give him any coaching licence. He'd have to finish primary school first...

No good can come out of a guy like that. Can you imagine him in the changing room before an important match, giving advice to his center backs on how to cripple the opponents??

I like my football to be physical, but there's a limit to everything. I really hope he does bad at Sunderland and doesn't score a contract..ever..so that he'll have to find another job, possibily a very degrading one, such as cleaning toilets or something!

Get back in the box with all the other tools.

Keano is a legend - he nailed Haaland due to a personal vendetta he didn't go round doing that week in week out - fantastic player - carried the whole team by himself at times.

His performance for United in the Champs League Semi Final 2nd league v Juventus was one of the greatest displays of midfield generalship ever.

Plus as a manager he's done pretty well - when he took over at Sunderland last season they were 2nd bottom of the Championship after 6 games - they won the league at a canter under him - top man and future United boos.

I remember Fergsuon saying after the treble win in 1999, that it was built on two players - Keane and Schmeichel.

High praise given that team also contained Beckham, Yorke, Cole, Neville, Scholes, Giggs and Irwin.

Buust wasn't Keane it was McClair - and MacTeer is just a gobby half wit who deserved it - that's the way it looked through my one good eye anyway

He was a good player, I just don't like seeing history re-written now he's stopped playing.  He was at times an objectionable f**kwit. Hard News2008-04-09 13:00:48

The book is my favorite book out - at the end of the day he was passionate about winning and did everything he could to ensure that happened - FFS people, some half-assed "hard men" get praised for that!

And even as a West Ham fan, I'd like to point out his Manure career was ended by his equal opportunity bashing OF HIS OWN TEAM!
