Shirley is all kinds of awesome.
Love her blog.

Meanwhile the all-important Stakeholders are offside as well. Apart from a few outliers at FOX who are obviously more beholden to de Bohun’s expense account than others...
...the football media are calling for action and Mark Bosnich’s ‘discussion’ with de Bohun yesterday should go down as a watershed moment for the A-League but I suspect it won’t.
The problem you have with this is that it only generates noise in a vacuum. In this case, the football community is the vacuum and no one outside of that gives a shark about a few innocents when they see the RBB at full throttle on the 6pm news. As far as they can see, it's a case of those s****r hooligans getting what they deserve.
Not withstanding the fact that those innocent people should not be swept up in this, the reality outside our own sport is that others will not care nor sympathise.
When you think about that, why does the FFA need to do anything different when there is no external pressure to change? Just like #prayforparis lasted 5 hours, they are banking on this doing the same. The steam on #savethenix is starting to wear off a little.
The FFA will stick their fingers in their ears and hold their breath for 2 weeks and continue as normal.
Can you have a noise in a vacuum?

Could not disagree with you more Jeff.
The NSW Privacy Commissioner and another privacy watchdog are investigating the leak of the list now.
The SCG has been listed as a violent venue last week, with 12 incidents, 4 at Rugby league, 3 at cricket, 2 at rugby and 2 at AFL... and ONE at football.
The mainstream media is shifting following the protests.
It's not a vacuum.
People in Australia ARE intersted in this debate, they do care, and the unity of football fans across the league is being noticed and having an effect.
The FFA need to pay attention and need to respond because there IS external pressure, and that external pressure exists because of the the noise fans are making. Sponsors are commenting, SFC are meeting with the SCG trust tomorrow, the FFA won't stick their fingers in their ears. It's gone beyond that.
Have a read of some of what's going on Jeff and get informed.
In all honesty, I might not have given much thought to the FFA and their
a) incompetency
b) deceitfulness
c) arrogance
d) laziness
e) selfishness
f) delusion that they have the sport's interests at heart
... if they hadn't stomped on our 10 year licence application.
But really, as Shirley says, this was just the start of a litany of fudgewittery, with the laziness and arrogance of the no natural justice process being the most recent.
The Board and the Executive are just parasites of the game.
Maybe start with this one to see how fingers in the ears isn't going to cut it now...
I don't think Jeff is entirely wrong. It has spread but nowhere near enough to claim that the mainstream media are taking notice.
The press in particular are so massively beholden to the League machine they won't dare give the facts a real airing.
As he says we live in the football vacuum we live and breath football through social media and our contacts. I supect Joe Lunchpail of Paramatta still thinks Rebecca Wilson is right because while she's been shot down it's only by football.

Lucy, after I've finished having Shirley's babies I would like to have yours too.

Fair. However, I think the worm IS turning. The FFA are paying attention...

But like News said, Joe Public still things that soccer hooligans are rampant in that A-League, and that isn't changing.
Joe Public will never change; if you equate Joe Public to 'bogan AFL/NRL supporter'. The general feeling from people around Melbourne I've talked to is one of sympathy towards the fans, however.
I don't think it needs to change. That sort of thing will change as Oz/NZ society changes.
There's quite a good series of articles on Stuff (yes, Stuff!): http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/facts-of-life
Unless we really close the borders to immigration I can't see football taking a backward step in either country over the next 10-20 years. Whether the Wilsons, Jones', Deakers and Savilles of the current media like it or not, there is a reason why in most other parts of the globe, football is a dominant and well-followed game (FFS even the Yanks have somehow got a good set up and a decent national team).
The biggest impediment to football's inevitable progress in both countries are the administrative bodies. Ours is just incompetent. Theirs is all of the above in my previous post.

Birthday presents will be easy:

At the moment, other than a token article, there is no EXTERNAL pressure on the FFA - that is, the people outside football. That's not to say that that could change but at the moment, where is the government, justice systems? If the FFA think they are holier than thou (and they do) they are not going to be moved to action by the people in the football community that they think they already control.
I respect you posted a link above Brandon but it's one article. I'm not saying things may stay this way but at the moment, it's football people making football noise about football. For change to happen, a lot more noise has to come from outside the vacuum.
I should probably clarify one more detail - I'm not talking about the investigation of the leak. I'm talking about the FFA to completely overhaul the process. If Bozos crack at deBohun showed us anything, is that the FFA are making a token gesture and de Bohun is not looking bigger picture to sort the whole issue.

Since the start of the season the FFA have been rattling their sabre and that is all. Dealing with problem fans is good however there need to be proper processes in place and all I am hearing is talk that suggests looking into it, instead of doing something about it.
For example,
Person aught and arrested for being a dickhead, seen on CCTV and or witnesses and found guilty by court of law - punish through the courts and or a ban of a chosen length. Person believed to have been a dickhead and cctv footage and or witnesses showing the wrong person nabbed, then that person should have the right of appeal and dismissal from any action. It isn't hard.
There is no face saving or even loss of face with this idea, yet the FFA have theirs buried so deep in the sand. Is it ego? Is it that further investigation might show something a bit more serious going on amongst the FFA senior members? If ever the FFA need transparency and common sense to come to the fore, now is that time. Bozza is right, excuses, excuses and excuses rather than real action and fairness towards the fans and clubs.
Perhaps a time for the board to be completely replaced by people whom are transparent and actually have the game and its development at heart rather than some sort of self serving vehicle?
The sad thing is that FFA are unlikely to be affected by pressure from within the football community, where you would think this is the exact place they should be taking notice of. If you don't respect your stakeholders, then wtf are you doing running the game?
..and there you have nailed the problem. The FFA don't see fans as stakeholders. They are more beholden to the mainstream media and sponsors than they are to the people they are supposed to represent.
And yet they are also doing those very people a big disservice with their antics which are currently creating so much negative publicity. That publicity is bringing negative attention towards these media and sponsors. They are coming across as money people with a play toy rather than as a body that wants to grow a sport and the brand in a positive way.
I still think if Fox had any brains, they would use the Nix games as their run in in to games in Aussie, 3pm kick offs on a saturday here, would be 1pm there for the most part and lead into an afternnon and evening of football. Fan numbers here would increase because of the time and for families to attend etc etc.

Friggen keyboard, list part of my sentence too, now reads correctly. Thanks Jeff. Although even a 3pm ko here would still be beneficial to the Nix, Fox and anyone else.

I beg to differ. Saturday 3pm kickoff here would not get much live viewing in Australia. But a 6-7pm kickoff our time would, as most Saturday games in Oz do not kick off till later, so your concept of leading into an evening of football would be sorted.
Very true Brandon, I am just offering a solution to a problem the FFS have created for us, not us for them.
In what sense?
They generally get good TV viewing times, but Sky does pay sharkloads.
Probably because Sky pays sharkloads. If Sky did pay enough then Fox would be calling the shots there too.
Yeah, I don't know how the cap works in League but I'm sure that sky pays enough to cover whatever the warriors get, they also pay enough that they get some say in scheduling.

In a recent blog, "Fiddling while Rome burns" it does indeed seem that Shirley has two X chromosomes (with associated womb and mammaries).
This is quite good because that means I don't need to get those things now (or indeed gestate the foetuses in a box).
