Hmm, I'd happily pay $15 to watch an important Nix game on a legal, high-quality stream (plus whatever else happened to be on Sky that day). No more than $5 for a less important game, though.

$20 for a week or $15 for a day? Bullshark pricing. I got excited when I saw the headline but FFS. $20 for a week sounds reasonable but $5 less for a day doesn't make sense. Something like $6.99 for a day would attract more people for one sports game a week that they want to watch.

Sky *still* don't get it.

Their Super Rugby pass was a flop because it was waaaaaay too expensive, so they've replaced it with an even more expensive package. Whoever came up with that idea should be fired, but knowing Sky - it'll probably earn them a promotion.

I totally agree with Patrick.

The only time I would see a weekly pass as a smart choice would be during important events like the World Cup, European Championship, Champions League football, Olympics etc...

Otherwise I would stick to streaming or going to a friend's house or to the pub.

Thinking about it more.. SKY wouldn't make it cheaper because then they would surely lose most of their SKY SPORTS subscribers. They don't want folk to buy the day pass. They want people who don't have SKY or SKY SPORTS for the upcoming Rugby World cup to pay $80 to watch it online.

Bastards.

This is where the pricing is stupid for me...it should be cheaper than the cost of getting a full sky (With Sports) subscription, and it's not...

Fan Pass (Super 15) = $300 (Comp runs 4 months) = $75/mth

Sky Basic = $48.07/mth (Pre-June)

Sky Sport = $26.68/mth (Pre-June)

So to get Sky + Sport for 4 months to watch Super 15 = $299

Wait...(For F1 or NRL this is technically better because it is a longer time period NRL (6-7mths) & F1 (8mths))

As for the Weekly Pass, for a month it would be $80 (Missing a couple of days), but for Sky Sport on regular Sky it is only $74.75, that's ridiculous. I'd surely think it should be more like $15, making it ~$60 for the month, that shouldn't cannibalise too much of their current base, and if it does it's only a $15 loss per consumer, and you don't have to provide them with equipment or tech support past a customer service number, no callouts, no installation etc.

As for FanPass itself, I'd pay for the F1 if it was $150, same as I do for EPL (PLP), NFL (GamePass) & NHL (GameCenter)

you can guarantee that when a major event (ie World Cup) comes on, the weekly price will shoot up... the same happened when I lived in the Middle East - it was relatively cheap to subscribe to Jazeera Sport during the year, but for the World Cup there was a huge price hike... people were furious, but still paid so they could watch, and the company made a fortune...

They won't make day or week passes cheaper than getting regular SKY subscriptions, because they want people to subscribe... if they made it cheaper it'd kill their business model... the prices suck, but they are the choice on offer...

It'd be fine if it was a whole weekly Sky Subscription, but it's just Sky Sport.

Think it'd make sense if for the $20/wk you got access to all Sky Channels (Or say $25), but with it at the same price as A full subscription as it is it's a bit of a joke.
