Yesterday's q and a with ricky H in the dom post was a worry - as has been all the talk of soul searching this week.  Most of the football savvy supporters I talk with can't make sense of the frustrating tactics and selections made by the current coaching staff.  Why don't costa and draper get a run when we haven't been able to score goals or even threaten defences.  Why are players past their best or just plain inept (Coveny, Johnson and Dodd) kept on, yet no place for young players like Brockie or Peverly and last season's playmaker - Felipe was frequently subbed early then let go?  Why be content to go for draws at home, and not revert back to a formation that worked in the pre-season?  It ain't quantum physics, and all this blaming of the players, yet the coach not taking responsibility is a worry. It's his confidence levels and lack of invention that seem to be the issue, as well as underperforming and lack of fight in most of the players.  Ricky though seems himself to be more passionate bout the all whites than the Phoenix.  At the former he's lucky he has better players playing at higher levels, and taking on amateurs to get to the Confeds Cup. Come on!  Confidence, belief and ideas come from good leadership.  And if the team is failing then why not pick from the whole squad.  Players like Brown, Christie and Sigmund are good enough for the All whites yet struggle to make the bench for the Phoenix.  Hopefully they'll turn it around today despite all this, but I'm not brimming with confidence and I know other season ticket holders who are wondering if they've wasted their money on another Knights disaster.
