OLD IS DONE!
SPOONLEY IS GONE!
Hey, that was in Sunday News remember - and all the haters on this forum could do at the time was bag the paper for making things up.
Heads up people - they were on the money.
Please, please... send apologies.
Oh, what else did that artile say? Dodd to midfield. Hmm. It's going to happen.
And the kids to State League... Hmm. Guess what? IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN.
Happy day to you.
And, and just in case you haven't realised yet, Jacob Spoonley is known to his close mates, as Jason!

ok so they may have been correct, but that still doesn't change the fact that the way they went about their reporting was odious and offensive. There's no need to go behind the backs of Tony P and Ricki when they seem fairly happy to talk and don't want to do anything prematurely. The leaks about Spoonley and Old could have harmed the careers (not to mention the confidence) of both players, but the Sunday News didn't really care about them at all.

Fair enough Johnnyspur.  Credit where it's due.  That bloke John, whoever he is, must have a good source inside the club.  Or perhaps have a friend of someone at the club that he gets his info from.

He was still way wide of the mark with his "laughing stock" call on Stevie Old though.  Needs to do more research before making calls like that.  Folks on here were frustrated by Old at times but mostly had hopes he'd come good.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Isn't this classed as Old news?

Leaks are normally leaked for a reason and controlled by the powers that be.  It's all to do with the curve associated to the acceptance of change, by the time its made official most people are past the shock, outrage and denial bit..

KTBW is right...

Sunday News is an amatuer paper with Amateur reporters who get info... but then use it to ridicule people... no promotion for the game at all... Shambles...

Well done you've got mates in the Phoenix. Your articles are still a joke...

And theres no way Jacob has ever been known as Jason.

Any news on your mate Jeremy Christie?

To be fair to them their job is to sell papers.

If the Phoenix have a leak then they need to plug it by getting rid of the slimy little prick who is drip feeding info, via his mate, to journalists.

But it's not really up to the Sunday News to sit on a good story.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

agree with smithy's last post - and would add that at least SN taking an interest. Let's hope that continues

BUT ... let's hope future stories are a touch more dignified. Old struggled and has been let go - but which credible source called the guy a "laughing stock"? More than a wee bit unncessary.

but the paper isn't written for just Jacob Spoonley's close mates, is it?

good to see football coverage in the SN though , which is generally more than the DST manages

Well, we've obviously touched a nerve there.

I think this goes to show that articles written with a pen are preferred to ones written with a hatchet.

what do you think of Phil Alexander being the club's first CEO? Sunday News named him last weekend. He's the CEO at Crystal Palace so can't be too bad! Apparantly Terry S wasn't pleased the news got out because Alexander hadn't told his boss at Palace yet! I think he used to play for Miramar. Any one know him? Is it a good call by Terry for such an important job? Quote from a year or so ago
So, the Sunday News always get it right, do they?
