Good footage of Nix training and coverage (albeit brief) of the new signings from Andrew Gourdie

perhaps we could give tv1 half a point for sin-binning Veitch (but they still seem unable to cover NZ football or the Nix as well as TV3 do)

One of these channels need to take the initiative and have a New Zealand Football show every week. Prime has loads of rugby on Sunday afternoons. TV1 has netball on Saturday and motorsport on Sunday and TV3 has fishing on Saturday and motorsport on Sunday but where is football in all this

What would they show?

NZFC looks poor because the grounds arent set up for TV

Allegedly

agreed that football on NZ tv is pretty scant, but I'd like to at least see consistent coverage of football in gnera; on both one and 3 before we go for a dedicated football show on the box
You know we belong together...

Most of that (well certainly the motorsport) is pretty much completely paid for by sponsors.  The FTA networks aren't doing it out of charity.

I remember on channel 9 in dunedin for a season or two (1999ish - 2000) they had a football show and got video and stuff from games around town, did a bit of a wrap up, sort of like Parklife but on TV. From memory (NB its not that great) they had a bit of a spiel on the goings on around the world of footy too, low budget but full of football goodness

Yeah was good having the intro without any of the Veitchesque disparaging remarks as well. Well done TV3.

Just something that Gourdie got wrong in the story, Ricki is the 2nd manager in the A-League to hold the UEFA Pro-Licene. Ernie Merrick also has the qualification.

Humble apologies people ... that fact was given to me by the club.

NZFC games may look poor on the old box but other than the A-league, its all we've got.
We need to get the game out to the public to prom' it. Canterbury TV showed all the Canterbury home games at English Park a couple of years ago and did a great job.
If the big three can't see the dollars in the game maybe the regional channels should.

Anyone see tv3 news last night?  Good coverage of the nix and the freestyling.  But then that rugby boofhead had to ruin everything by saying (after the freestyle story had finished)..."Don't know about that freestyling, but how about those all blacks and warriors".
Gourdie can you give him an uppercut for us.

Good coverage from TV1, TV3 and TCGW.  Although TV1's story had the theme of "is this a sign of things to come or a temporary deviation from the norm"'

You know what really gets up my nose?  In this day and age with oil supply problems, damage to the environment by pollution etc., etc., the amount of TV programs showing motor sports is out of all proportion to their popularity and desirability.  I'd love to see more football, but any sport where people don't race around tracks like demented loons polluting the atmosphere would be preferable. You'd think the government would step in and pull the plug on them, but I guess they'd rather talk about the environment than actually do something positive.

I also suspect he doesn't quite grasp the popularity and desirability.

The V8's are regularly one of the largest spectator sports events in new Zealand, as is the Rally of New Zealand.  The only time the Palmerston North showgrounds sells out are the two nights of the stock car teams nationals, just as three examples.

One thing about TV coverage of sports, particularly on SKY, unless someone is paying for the slot they will only show something that has audience and they show an AWFUL lot of live motorsport.
