I recently attended the preseason cup match which apart from the frustratingly unfair ending was a great match to watch. In fact I enjoyed it so much I couldnt wait for the first game ofthe season. My 10 or so mates and I walked down the ramps in discussion on the stormy night, just wondering whether this might be the start of something as football mad students we could begin to worship. however after registering for yellow fever I read that ticket prices would be $28. Now I realise that us students are prety scabby when it comes to moneyspending (booze/food/rent) but there was enough spare cash to afford a $10 ticket every fortnight. You might say get a job? I do have one but on top of study i can only fit in 2 7 hour shifts of washing dishes a week which gets me by. I understand your why the ticket prices are what they are, but i also think you have maybe lost the majority of students on this one. No doubt we will be supporting the nix from our couches now, frustratingly only a couple of miniutes from the game.

Or get a season ticket, and each match will cost you the outrageously reasonable 8$

...plus, get 5 of your mates together and six tickets will cost you $24 instead of $28.00 if you buy them from ticketek.

Or come to the pub on Sunday, demonstrate your commitement (commitment to saving money for game entry) by not buying beer, then see if maybe any of the lads can spot you a fiver .. . .  you never know u might be able to fish out enough to buy a ticket phil_style2007-08-23 16:14:30

Students get in for child prices, it makes it about $12 or $14. So get all your mates down there too.

Students can buy a child tickets if they show a student ID.

Yeah i got my ticket for something like $13 by showing my ID, so it includes tertiary students as well. However a lotn of people do some how think that it doesn't,maybe it needs to be made clearer?

Tertiary students should consider themselves very lucky to get tickets at the discounted prices.  They're bloody cheap and there's nothing like that for the rugby.  Its really just a m,atter of prioritising or increasing that student loan

The Stadium holds some 35k, why not try an initial pilot of half price for the next home game - that way instead of 10k attending, it might surprise everyone that the stadium gets full.

Then theres always the risk of setting the prices that low, and still only 15k turn up  highly embarassing

Three points.

1, If you don't get double the number, your budget is stuffed.

2, The FFA like all clubs to charge at similar levels.

3, What do you do for season ticket holders ?

Impractical.  Won't happen.

Hi Baiter- you raise some interesting points, however, now that the honeymoon is over, the REAL fans will support no matter what, however, we Wellingtonians now have a mandate to raise the bar, as far as FOOTBALL in NZ is concerned. 

The other problem I would see is that sudden drop in prices after a few bad results smacks of desperation, and the media image that would flow with that would be latched on to in seconds by some parts of the media.

Season ticket holders and the faithful can be otherwise accommodated

no need for any great changes yet.
