The Matildas will benefit greatly from Westfield's new partnership with the FFA. They will be known as the Westfield Matildas

Football Federation Australia (FFA) and Westfield today announced a landmark agreement in support of the fastest growing team sport for women in the country � women�s football.

The Westfield Group's support involves women�s football ranging from the Westfield Championship for Girls, the establishment of a new national women�s league known as the Westfield W-League, and the national women's team to be known as the Westfield Matildas.

And apparently Canberra Utd will play in a green strip - ya beezer - about time a team in Oz played in green, other than the flouro monstrosity that the Raiders play in

Green's not often used for sports strips for good reason, makes them harder to see against the pitch.  Then again the South African rugger team has been in a dark green for ages, I guess the white shorts is a suitable offset.

It's a shame there won't be a Phoenix-affiliated team, but ah well, it's not a priority just yet. Hopefully a few years down the track.
