Is GARBAGE.

I'm sorry.  I'd love to be supportive, but it's arse.

Tonight's highlights:

1. More of f**king Dennis's 80s house music playing behind what would otherwise be perfectly entertaining football match highlights.

2. Danny Hay sitting on set with some other Waitak chap looking like a pimple on an arse because he's rarely if ever invited to say anything.  When he does he is interesting and relatively well spoken so ffs talk to him!

3. Harry (who is great) talking to Dennis (who is average) on a set where neither of them actually look towards camera or at each other but instead give the glad eye to the floor staff off camera and look like television's on air answer to the blind cricket team.

4. Dennis switching into his "super hero/radio announcer" voice every time he's saying something scripted, and sounding and looking like a c**t.

5. f**k: have just seen this...the Diamondback competition..."pick your 11 and see if it matches OUR'S"...you useless c**ts OURS doesn't have an apostrophe in it.  I'm not a grammar nazi but if you're going to put it on nationwide television then get someone who passed school certificate English to have a look at it first.

It's just amateur hour.  It must rate worse than a test pattern.

Those boys from Wellington College who filmed Feverish the other day did a better job.

Sorry to all those involved, who I have no doubt have the very best of intentions.

I've never made a television show so what the f**k would I know.

If it was me though, I'd be getting on t'internet and downloading some episodes of Soccer AM or Match of the Day and seeing what a decent football show looks and sounds like.

for me the main problem is the one camera footage of NZFC games

I don't mind Dennis, and much to my surprise Fred was proving to be quite amusing in some of the shows

Harry and  Fred work well

also good to get the A-league highlights

so for me it's better than the test pattern

You're right Tiges.

And there are a few positives:

1. Local football on the tele.  I am sympathetic with them as to the cost of covering the NZFC - it aint cheap!

2. ummmm.

No actually that's it's only redeeming feature.

Imagine a world where there was local footy on the tele AND it was watchable.  Call me a visionary and a dreamer, but I think it could be done!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

keep dreaming the dream I reckon!!

with marius snapping at the collective media arse, and dozens of nix fans emailing the various media  since the season started, and this site raising expectations we must be inching towards the football dream!!

the Beckham visit (whilst it ain't strictly 'NZ' football) has already nabbed 10 mins of primetime on each of the two main channels tonight (and he isn't even in the country yet!)

wouldn't have happened w/o Terry, and us fans who are supporting his/our dream

the Dom had a piece on pg four which talked about a principal saying almost all of her school were going to the Becks/galaxy training and that football was much more popular at her school than rugby
(also picked up by nat radio) - this is the new generation of football in NZ - cool!!

I don't have a problem with World of Football at all. I only have one suggestion, that is somebody tell Fred de Jong an amusing joke before the show and in the ad breaks so he isn't quite so dry.

well, Dennis did say at the end of the programme last night that, subject to commitments, he'd like to get back down the Backbencher sometime with the yellow fever crowd.

Couldn't ask for a better plug.

I don't usually criticise the media, but that was truly embarassing tonight.  I cringed through the whole thing.

only saw bits due to a power struggle for the remote

but what i saw indicates that Dennis Katsanos's detractors might have under-estimated his relative talent

did i really hear Mark Elrick say that "Durrante had worked box to box" - or did i miss something because my brain just blanked out as a self-protective mechanism?

Dennis holds it together, apparently. Too many awkward silences tonight, and he reads better than Elrich, too.
