CAPITAL I LOVE THE ISLANDS CONCERT FOR SAMOA TSUNAMI VICTIMS

A dream line up of performers will take to the stage at Wellingtons Michael Fowler Centre on Labour Day to raise money for victims of the Tsunami that devastated Samoa last month.
Confirmed acts include: Oscar Kightley, Savage, The Yandall Sisters, Scribe, Aaradhna, Adeaze, Teuila Blakely, Laughing Samoans, Ruia Aperahama, Bella Kalolo, Iva Lamkum, TJ Taotua, Rosita, Ben Makisi, Beatrootz, Mission, Musical Island Boys and the Legacy Dance Company.

Part of the nationwide series of, I Love the Islands Samoa Relief Concerts, the Capital concert has been made possible with help from the Wellington City Council, Samoan Advisory Council, Wellington City Council Pacific Advisory Group and Air New Zealand.
ï¿½We have been overwhelmed by support, not just physical but also emotional and spiritual support, says organising committee member, Pati Umaga.

Right now, our people just need resources to get on their feet again, they are resilient and will face this challenge but definitely need our help to be able to do that.
The Sinalei Resort on Samoas southern coast was destroyed by the Tsunami, with many locals and tourists killed.  Resort owner Joe Annandale, who lost his wife Anna Tui and family members on September 30th, is a staunch supporter of Samoan musicians.
He has a passion for music so offered his resort for us to use . . we had people like Neil and Tim Finn playing out on the beach at Sinalei with some of our own musicians, recalls Mr Umaga.

From the Pacific music community we want to really use our skills to raise funds to help and add to the contributions from across Aotearoa New Zealand.

All funds raised from I Love the Islands concerts will be administered by the Pacific Music Awards Trust and allocated to the Samoa Tsunami 2009 Appeal Charitable Trust.  The office of the Samoa Tsunami 2009 Appeal Charitable Trust is located on the Ground Floor, Samoa House, 283 Karangahape Road, Auckland Central (
www.samoatsunami2009appeal.org or Telephone 09 368 9003).

The key contacts for this Trust include Consul General Faolotoi Repena Pogi and Laauli Michael Jones.  The Trust is also supported by the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs.

Allocations from the funds raised from the concerts will also be made to the villages of Poutasi and Lalomanu, which are the villages of Scribe and Savage respectively.
