Does anyone else really dislike the new canon pixma printer ad.  And have they ripped off the sound at the end from Apple???

I do like that new Heinekin ad.  Very clever if not a bit too long but they'll shorten it I'm sure.

Bring back the bugger ads!

I hate Cadbury eyebrows.

I can see why that would be a favourite.   I thought it was strange when she when i tell people what i do they think i use real arrows.  Im sure that's not the first thing that enters their mind!  Especially the mind of men.

I  also like the baseball ads and the Sports centre ones, they are very funny.  Esp that one with the rollerskating, basketball dunking cockatoo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8jX4bCtdPo

and I admit I have a soft spot for the Stephen Fleming Fujitsu ads too.

Read my blog and comment, about branding more than Advertising, but check it out. For those media and design inclined. Basically Brand New with a New Zealand bias.

Brands New Zealand

Liking, but think it's over played, Rhys Darby 2, also like, bit old now, the T Mobile stuff in UK; Dancing in underground station and mass amount of people Singing 'Hey Jude'. Most Wieden and Kennedy ads too, eg Hate Something Change Something - Honda

ESPN ads get really repetitive but an old one of Edwin Baptiste's crazy one-hand-over-the-head-jumping-backwards-catch. I liked last seasons NBA, there can only be one ads too.

I subscribe to 'best ads on tv' podcast through itunes, among other things.

Nope, that sound at the end is the noise Canon cameras make when you turn them on.

yes that watching the tape one is a ripper!  Wish some of our sports news readers would mix it up a bit.  Least the Crowd Goes Wild is pushing the envelope.

Awesome - The Cadbury Gorilla drumming "In the Air Tonight"

Sucks - The Cadbury kids with those eyebrows.

Question, why do they always have Tampax and other period pad products on  TV right on Dinner Time??

Don't forget those thrush ones too!   I think (don't quote me) companies buy advertsing slots. So maybe unilever or whoever are aiming to get the most females during the news hour. Assuming of course thats the time on average we have dinner.  But if someone does work in marketing/advertising please share what you know.

All ads are soul sucking works of the Devil, created by talented  people who could, if they decided to, enrich our lives with art, poetry and thought, but instead sell us Coke and Doritos.

Not really an ad I suppose, but does that Smarter Shopper idiot grind anyone elses' gears?

Oh... and that cereal one with the parents singing... can't remember which cereal, but that's made me almost throw bricks at our TV a few times.

On the other hand... I really want to live in the Carlsberg flat! Or just be able to have it's balcony...

Really advertising now is much more geared towards creating great ideas and winning awards than selling more product. But in turn, creating a brand idea and improve brand awareness by producing these ads.

Advertising is an unavoidable product of our modern consumer society, every consumer choice we make is now defines who we are. Jean Baudrillard writes much of the consumer society (pre-web boom) and the choices we make that define us. Companies position themselves into the area they see fit their product, via advertising, sponsorship and other mass communication sources. We have to buy and buying now defines much of who we are. Read Baudrillard, he explains better than I can.

I certainly don't think creative talents should be geared towards helping sell more product for large multinationals. I would like to think many stick to things like the 'First things First Manifesto' but monetary terms dictate many of peoples choices.

Product placements in movies and tv influences us greatly too.  how many of us have subconsiously  leaned towards a certain product simply cause we've witnesed it's sometime subtle placement in a tv show or even commercial we're watching.  Those producers are also telling us what is "cool" to buy and enable us to keep up with the Jones's
