This was originally going to be my top ten but it's just too hard! So instead it's a list, in no particular order, of some of my favourite albums of the last decade.

The Streets: Original Pirate Material and A Grand Don't Come For Free

The Flaming Lips: Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

F**ked Up: The Chemistry Of Common Life

Madvillain: Madvillainy

Arctic Monkeys: Whatever They Say I Am That's What I Am Not

The Bug: London Zoo

Green Day: American Idiot

Ghostface Killah: Fishscale

The Strokes: Is This It?

Burial: Burial and Untrue

The Twilight Singers:
As Played By The Twilight Singers

Dizzee Rascal: Boy In Da Corner and Showtime and Maths and English

Outkast: Stankonia and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

The Hold Steady:
Boys And Girls In America and Stay Positive

Portishead: Third

M.I.A.: Arular and Kala

Thrice: The Alchemy Index Vol I & II and The Alchemy Index Vol III & IV

Madness: The Liberty Of Norton Folgate

Idlewild: 100 Broken Windows and The Remote Part

Leatherface: Horsebox and Dog Disco

The Gutter Twins: Saturnalia

And I still feel like I'm forgetting something! Please add your own selections and links...

Hmmmm, the last decade in my life involved a shift to NZ and parenthood; I still haven't decided which of those is mst responsible for a lack of disposable income. As a result I don't think I have bought more than 10 LPs over that time, so this is a graet way for me to to hear what is the 'decade that time forgot' musically.

One exception is the Green Day album - after over a decade of mediocity American Idiot was a breath of fresh air, no doubt.

And thanx for the Leatherface Camden Underworld links - the cover of 'Hops and Barley' is a classic

Bad Religion - New Road Map of Hell

Since the first one was 1991-2008 I take it the second will be 2009-2010.

And since you already have the annual for 2009 then you only need the annual for 2010.

Have I missed anything here?

Well, my feelings on the Kings of Lynyrd should be well known by now. Let's just say they don't appear in my own albums of the decade list. Everyone's entitled to an opinion though.

Some good choices here already however - Solomon Burke's Don't Give Up On Me in particular was very nice. His cover of Van Morrison's Fast Train was used in Season 3 of the best television series of the last decade - The Wire.

yes she is lovely
a genuine British Treasure
must get that album, I'm still stuck on the Red Shoes

Kings of Lynard as in they are derivative rock band?
I reckon they continue a strong line of Southern Rock, but extra props for Pixies influence.
The Black Crows got pretty much the same complaints but I'd argue their 2nd and 3rd albums are better than anything Syknard ever did and up there with the Allman Bros.

righteous rock really.
