Sad to hear the passing of an English footballing hero in Allan
Ball.
It will be interesting to see if he gets a mention in the
Sunday News this weekend, specially has that clown John Matheson
and his sidekick Sam Malcomson were championing Ball to become the
next coach/manager of the Knights. He never would have got to coach
the side....

Had the privilege of hearing him speak late last year at a
Pukekohe AFC-hosted fundraiser (of all places!). Not a lot of
people present, but those who did were enthralled by an obviously
nice, down to earth bloke telling the story of how he was plucked
as a pretty young player from almost nowhere into the English
team. Whole bunch of current Pukekohe senior players had
their photo taken with him - will be a photo well treasured now.
RIP Alan Ball, World Cup winner and all-round good sort.
