As i sat on the bench for our 1st team game tonite

I realised a couple things.

The coach didn't play me because he knows what i'm capable of and wanted a look at a younger keeper. He looked quite shaky and uncertain at times, also conceding a soft goal and almost producing an error leading to another (cleared off the line by our cb).

Our incumbent 1st team keeper from last year will be in England for the first couple weeks of the season. Now, providing i stay fit, i should be looking at making my 1st team debut around this time.

If this is the case though, surely i need match practice to build my confidence up, although i'm already supremely confident in my ability following my heroic performances at nationals last year.

Summary: In the line for a 1st team debut, confidence sky high, need some match practice, only minor worry is coach looking at younger keeper.

Just a pre-season friendly? Doesn't really matter mate. Coach is just doing his job and keeping his options open. If the keeper had a mare like you said, surely the coach would have seen that, thus solidifying your place in his first team plans.
