Who do you want to win?

Who do you think is going to?

I want Labor to win.... but don't think they will. An Abbott lead government scares me.

Living in NZ- why would Abbott scare you?

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Cause I'm a foreigner. And Abbott seems to have an irrational fear of them.

Abbot, can't stand Gillard, simple as that.

They're both taking (saying they'll take) a tougher stance on immigration to reduce it - I don't think it's just Abbott.  Interestingly enough they're both immigrants.

I really don't know who I'd vote for if I was in Australia.  Abbott strikes me as not the type who is overly concerned about environmental issues.

To be perfectly honest Mr Incredible, I think most Aussies can find a way to hate you!

Is there a joke party over there for these elections? Apart from the Greens?

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Why do you say that?  I'm not mounting a challenge here, interested about the views is all as we know less about it over here.

Well played, sir!  I became a fan of Julia Gillard's earlobes on facebook and I encourage the rest of you to do the same.

I wonder, are either main parties doing anything to court specifically the Aboriginal vote or are they just hoping their policies will be attractive to everyone?

They are less than 3% of the population.  So probably not really a viable target group for a population.  Much easier to use them as a political football.

Apparently the first ever Aborigine may get elected to Parliament, according to Sky News. Unbelieveable it has taken so long (although not surprising as well).

I like STV as a proportional system, but it is tricky to follow. I think Sky News could do with a better range of graphics to explain where everything is at. I love elections though! I can't wait for next month!

Yeah, Labor should take it. Just. I think STV has really saved their arses. Quite a few seats that look like going Coalition are going to stay/go red due to the two-party preferential from Greens voters.

Am I right that Parliament is not topped up by list MPs to reflect the overall proportion of the vote?

Correct. I think the senate is proportional, but the house is strictly electorate based. STV is definitely the best electorate based system, would love to see it here for our electorate seats, in addition to the proportional party vote.

WA is pear shaped, if you tilt your head a bit.
