How devastating. Hope the insurance is up todate

Three months to get the bar back in order

I can see a Yellow Fever fund raiser coming on

Sorry just posted about this elsewhere. Is there anything the BB needs from us? If you need to crank up the BBQ for a  benefit night to raise funds I'll be there.

The BB is our friend and match day home. They supported us when that other pub pulled out and have been a constant throughout the life of the Nix.

I want to support the BB.

What do you need us to do?

The last thing they need is a potential repeat!

Oi HardNews etc, what's the word? We doing anything?

Permalink Permalink

sorry for the late reply guys.

As it stands there is little information to pass on, other than the fact we will be closed for a minimum of two months and probably a lot longer.

For those people who donated memorabilia/shirts etc there is smoke damage to those but hopefully its minor and drycleaning etc should fix the odor.

will keep you guys posted as we learn more over the next few days

Thanks mate, and when you guys are a little more back on your feet then hopefully we as loyal BB YF can help you out. You can have an old Cambridge United shirt if you want ?

Was there any Bradford City shirts?

I may jest but I do wish you guys all the best sorting this whole mess out. Would be pleased to help out in any way!

the world without the 'Bencher' is a sad and dreary place

particularly for those of use that had our Euro/work balance largely based on a short dash to work after the late game each day

all the best with the repairs Uber & Boycie

I see in the paper today that Backbencher might be closed for 6 months, and the stinking insurance company hasn't paid up yet to get things moving on a refurbishment.

 http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/capital-life/7202493/Political-puppets-up-for-grabs

So it's looking like Backbencher won't be open in time for the start of the season, but hope they manage to keep things going while they do the repairs.

I wonder if they can get a license just for the back bar area, and serve food off the BBQ? I'm keen for a few Ifill burgers.

Any updates on the refurbishment ??

Always interested to hear how old friends are getting on.

Won't be until next year.  Ran in to one of the bar managers working at 3C the other night and she and Boycie have grabbed tickets in the Zone this season so will be joining us wherever we booze.

As long as we never forget the BB. It was the pub that stepped in when the plastic pub pulled out. It is our match day home.

We need to appreciate that pre-4kings particularly with early nix matches this pub bound us together. I still remember the first match we played and I remember how fucking awsome the BB was and is.

Also early fever cards!!!??? Mad value!!!!!

I love you BB

And it's on again... sadly.

Thoughts with Boycie and the crew - and Ricki's puppet!

Not the same, the only thing is Boycie got to go to a match as a punter for a change..

that alternative is ok but was not even close to the BB

we love you BB

Let's work it out, where X is the random variable describing our season so far, and Y is the random variable describing the availability of the backbencher. Lets say the expected values of these two variables are ?X = 5.5 (for the average position in the league) and ?Y
= 0.99 ( the percentage chance that we would expect the BB to be open on any given matchday). Anyone want to estimate standard deviations so we can complete the forumla?

So what did you get?

I got a "Maybe", but I wasn't sure about the big E in the equation.

I found that there is some corrolation, but no causation.

Any correlation to the size of the Fever Zone?

Without working it out, yes. Also causation, the lack of Backbencher helped cause a smaller Fever Zone.

There are heaps of correlations. Whoever can find the causation should get a job at the Phoenix.
