I watched 'Trouble the Water' the other day.  It's a handy cam docu (i guess) of a family who stayed during Hurricane Katrina.  Good watch.

Man on Wire-Crazy French Genius crosses Twin Towers on wire.
Grizzly Man- David Attenbourough meets Steve Irwin crossed with Charles Manson.
Crossing the Line- amazing insight into North Korean culture- its abput Joe Dresnok, a guy who walked across the border from South to North Korea and became a folk hero there.

Grizzly man would be in my top three films of all genres.

Doco Series?

Connections - James Burke
Life on Earth - David Attenborough
Botanical Man - David Bellamy (before he got all weird and Gaia-esque)
Wild South - TVNZ/that lot down in Otago
Ascent of Man - Jacob Bronowski (very ancient this one)
BBC "Walking wiv" docos (Dinosaurs, Beasts, Man - last one on the whale was pretty cool)

Edit: BTW after getting lots of posts are you then going down to the video store only to get out a DVD on the latest terminator film?

Watched Black Gold last night. Good movie about Where Coffee comes from, and how the farmers are being royally screwed.

Managed to get all 5 parts on DVD last Oct from the Warehouse for $16.99 each, normally about $40 each.  Had to hunt round a couple of the them to find them all.  I remember watching as a kid when it 1st came out in the mid 70's.  Probably the best WW2 doco produced (Thames Television).  Very sobering & harrowing in some episodes.

Bit vague isn't it just asking what doco's to watch.

Have liked Gary Huswit's two docos 'Helvetica' (about the font) and 'Objectified' about industrial design & mass produced designed goods. But that's me I doubt anyone else would enjoy watching them here.

this site has it's very own Vim Fuego
News, you can be Roger Daltry

OutFoxed - the life and crimes of Rupert Murdoch
The Corporation - business as criminals
Jazz - Ken Burns series
Jesus the Evidence - pretty controversial at the time. plus I dig Rennes les Chatues mythology.
The Last Waltz - maybe not technically a documentary, but worth a bo-peep
Roger and Me - early Michael Moore, as in it's both genuine and accurate

and really anything by the greatest living Australian, John Pilger. A real journalist, a real champion of the poor and marginalized, a real man.
