Both Vodafone and Telecome have had 'issues' recently with their networks, but are also probably the safest bets to go with in terms of coverage.

Guess a big determining factor would be which networks your family/friends are on (or will be).

I used a Vodem for doing TeeDubs match updates for NZ Football and it was excellent.  Actually the initial one I had that was stolen with my laptop was patchy, but it was replaced with an older one that was bullet proof.

How's my driving? - Whine here

The other reason I'm with Vodafone is cause I use a really old Nokia 540i which was their indestructable builder's phone frm about 8 yrs ago. All the networks new indestructable phones suck as are bigger and more plastic whereas mine is rubber and been dropped hard onto concrete a zillion times plus I take it kayaking so it gets fairly wet at times. Alas they now sell for more on trademe second hand than ever cost brand new

More the data usage on them... as per Target last night - and in my own experience I had to take them to the TDR to get it sorted (ie: credited lol).

Cox.

I hate all our phone networks.

They're all overpricing bunch of twats.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

This.

But, to be a bit more helpful...

I bought an iPhone on Voda about a year ago and switched it across to Telecom XT after about 6 months.

Initially XT had much much much faster data rates but that's probably because nobody was using it in the beginning.

Now though I don't think there is any practical difference between the two.  The pricing I'm getting on Telecom Voda couldn't match, so I guess that's what it will come down to - which network can you get the cheapest deal on.

You're having a laugh, how the hell is Telecom winning this? I've you've voted for them can you please own up and how much credit they've given you since their network has gone down?

I voted for them.

I've suffered two significant outages since being on their network.  They've apologised and compensated me for both, and their customer service has always been top notch when I've called.

I was on voda for years and they were never this good.

Don't blow XT issues out of proportion.

How many significant outages did Vodafone's network have over those 'years' you were with them? Arsenal2010-05-20 16:49:13

Probably not.

But just pointing out that Vodafone ain't exactly immune to cock-ups.

OK, what I can deduce from this is that...

I want a HTC Touch2 which Telecom have but a Contract that Vodafone have but I am not willing to stump up the required $499 to purchase the handset outright.

Is it at all possible that there is someone on this forum who can hook a brother up with a cheap (and preferably not stolen!) HTC Touch2 that is new and unblocked?
