Primal Scream

I can't be bothered checking, what's the Nix schedule for that weekend ?

How's my driving? - Whine here

Nix home against Perth on Jan 23, so no issues there.

Primal Scream, MIA, Deftones... it's taken me a bit by surprise that the BDO may actually be worth a look this year (f**k I hate Mt Smart Stadium as a venue though).

But with No Sleep 'til Auckland in December, BDO in Jan and probably the rather excellent Laneways in Feb, that's three trips up in three months!! Better start working on my story...

EDIT: forgot the Honduras game in October. Four trips to Ak in 5 months. I'm practically a JAFA.

Class lineup.

Three for me, and two for them.

Most of them have already played the B.D.O  not saying any of the bands are crap but would've liked a few bands that haven't already played main stage to be there

It's about time they have a kiwi act as one of the first big announcements esp considering Shapeshifter and Tritnity Roots sell concerts out almost as quick as the sevens these days

Nice lineup, but not breakthrough or anything tbh. Everyone decent has already played (bar say MIA).
IMHO the festival that brings new awesome artists these days has to be Rhythm & Vines (but then, I gave up on new rock a long time ago).

Iggy again ! Can't wait

R and V has a terrible line IMO. Being from gisborne will probably not go.

I quite like that R&V lineup but wd prob choose Phat even tho already seen half their lineup play this year. As far as the BDO goes I'd love to see Rammstein but not enough to head to Akld specially and brave the usual crowd of drunken Akld teens

LCD Soundsystem, Crystal Castles and Iggy are what I want to see but I think this years Laneway could be better

I'd go just to see Rammstein.

Never been before is it usually awesome?  How long does each band perform for as there are numerous stages aye?  A few hours I'd hope.

Also LCD Soundsystem for the lols (have a song on Stepbrothers).  Not a huge Tool fan as I haven't heard much of their stuff but what I've heard I've liked.

More to be announced aye?  Or is that everything?  Hoping Blindspott get on board.

sets are usually more like 45-70mins but least the main area has side by side stages so they set one up while the other has the band playing and there's minimum waiting. My best BDO involved seeing The Streets at a small side stage then having to really fight through a crowd to see the last half of the Beastie Boys and as they were ending The Chemical Brothers were playing in the hot sweaty dance tent but you cdn't fit an extra person in there as it filled up early

Cheers SK, here's hoping Rammstein play a bit of the older stuff.

So this. I couldn't hate a band more if I tried.

No Sleep Til is definitely winning my festival dollar at the moment.

i reckon this is the best line up since the last time tool came, pretty much any lineup with tool in it wins for me. but chucking in ramstein, deftones wolfmother, airbourne and shihad aswell. perfect.

hopefully maynard comes out and sings passenger in deftones set.

I am prepared to give my expert opinion on the lineup - feel free to pass these opinions off as your own to impress girls:

Tool - never heard of them
Rammstein - never heard of them (unless he is the guy off the bank adverts)
MIA - never heard of them
Iggy and the Stooges - Iggy now sells car insurance so is a sell out.  Unless he waves his cock about, it will be worse that when he played before Jimmy Barnes at Athletic Park in 19-ages ago.
LCD Soundsystem - surely that is not even a real band??????

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Only bands I'd go for a Tool and Deftones, but seen both already. Prob wait for 2nd announcement to see if the Soundgarden or Stone Temple Pilots rumours pan out.

Soundwave Festival for me though, I think.

Iron Maiden
Queens of the Stonage
Slayer
Primus
Melvins
Gang of Four
F*cked Up
High On Fire
Saxon

Plus heaps more. So much win...

As a more modern punk fan who isn't in to metal, I find the BDO line up appalling. The only artists I like from the line up is Lupe Fiasco (I'm not even big on hip-hop), the Naked and Famous and I Am Giant. I went to Soundwave in Brisbane this year, had Anti-Flag, Alexisonfire, AFI, Enter Shikari, Paramore, Taking Back Sunday, Trivium, Comeback Kid, all my favourite bands, and this has none even from the same genre! Although Soundwave is also very metal bogan based this year, it's far more appealing than BDO. Where the hell is Blink-182!?

ahh... why worry about Blindspott playing at Akld when you can just go see them at Homegrown on the waterfront on 5th march tho I hear tickets are expected to sell fairly quickly
