Sadly, I think one group of people whom will be really loving this is the National Front. I see a few things have been happening in the last day or so. Disturbing things.

I think you are spot on, however overall  there are dozens  of countries that have more racist sentiment than the UK.

I would rank New Zealanders above Brits on the racist scale as would many Brits I know.

Racism is an individual affliction and should be judged as such.

Labelling nations (or religions, sexualities, hair colours, or any other group) as more racist than another is utterly pointless, unnecessary, and inaccurate. Of course everyone's experience is different - but to label an entire group as more or less this/that/the other based on your individual experience is wrong.

Racism is fudgeed up. Racism sadly exists everywhere. Racism is never ok. End of.

Racism exists everywhere, on a whole NZ is one of the least racist countries I know of, yet there are plenty of racist people. I'd also put the UK as one of the least racist countries out there. 

There are also degrees of racism, at one end you have the they are genetically inferior and more likely to end up in jail or be uneducated because they are stupid rather than society and at the other end you have the I don't like their culture and their personality traits because of that.

The UK IMHO is more the later, and it's not really racism but more xenophobia. They don't like to see their culture eroded by immigrants, which in a way is understandable.

Racism is much more than an individual affliction. But I agree that whole-sale labelling is not helpful or constructive.

Its also not helped by mass media is diluting what racism used to mean.

In the world where racism is judging someone because of their race, racism is bad.

In the current world where cultural appropriation means using anything from anyone else's culture, not just when you are taking the piss, and it is all deemed racism, its hard to not be racist.  People don't want their cultures to die, but cry racism when a white person embraces it, seems contradictory to me, and seems nealry impossible to not be racist.

On this topic how's this for irony. I'm lucky enough to be able to get from NZ to France (& the UK) for a few weeks most years, and one of the two Brit couples I stay with in rural France (who are by no means racist) told me that one of the main reasons so many of their fellow Brits have upped sticks to live similarly is 'to get away from the blacks.'

I Might be missing the irony there.  Just sounds like unironic racism.

Sorry to insult you but that's my view and I'm struggling to think why you would be offended? Does it grate you that we might be more racist then the Brits? Why?

I have met every Kiwi and UKovian, analysed every law at local and national level and have decided I need to drink more at the bar Auckland Phoenix passed on his way to this forum in order to conclude my investigations. Possibly Farage v. Peters single combat could be a way to decide.

The irony lies in the fact that these Brits my friends know, who left the UK to 'get away from the blacks', might now following the Brexit vote be forced by EU regulation to return to the UK to live amongst them. Or else told to take up French (EU) citizenship.

An important point but irrelevant to this discussion. If the South Island ever decided to leave New Zealand due to too many Pacifica peoples arriving courtesy of the Interislander, then we can visit this again. 

After reading some news, looks like EU plays hard ball. The new prime minister has to deal with the new EU superpower: Germany. The English yellow press can already start photoshopping Angela Merkel with Hilter mustache.

The UK has always had the better of Germany.  :)

Yep, a lot of those "invasions" through Europe were the allies restoring the previous governments from Nazi rule. And probably a lot of Asia and Africa were not real invasions but just setting up outposts for hunting and skinning animals or extracting natural resources.

Weirdly enough we had a youngish lass promoting support for the Mary Potter Hospice on our doorstep and she was German and possibly the least nihilistic person I've ever met.
