Buying/Selling houses- stress levels reaching epic levels

They say selling a house/moving house is one of the most stressful things you can go through.

Anyone else recently been buying/selling?

Have just put our home of 5 years on te' market. The most annoying thing (so far) is having to keep the place spotless, and getting super freaked by mess- esp. cos we have two messy sons: 5 and 1.5, and normally are quite tolerant of untidyness

Every night after the boys go down the missus and i spend an hour or so cleaning, then do the same before work each day

anyway, it seems as though the tiem is right to sell so the pain will be worth the gain.

In December 2011, my Mrs gets talking to a real estate agent when she went to an open home with a mate, she invites the agent around...The agent come around and says, I know someone who will buy this house.  I was thinking, yeah right. She invites this couple around who put an offer on our house straight away (it was a 2 bedroom townhouse in Berhampore). The offer was way more than we were expecting but the condition was we needed to be out in 10 days as they were expecting a baby. The whole thing from start to finish took just over 2 weeks!

Such a stressful time.....

Ha! Just to add to the story, we bought a new house way under the GV and lower than what other people offered a few weeks later! Definitely good luck on those ones.

This is like one of those stories where people tell you about their massive TAB win...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

You've triggered nightmares of the 13 weeks of open homes soon after the housing bubble burst 5 years ago. With kids similar age to yours I was at my wits ends, especially the two occasions when no one at all turned up!  At week 10 a couple of mice decided to take up residence though, so they were keen at least...

How's it all going? Sold yet.

I'm just working on getting pre-approval for my first mortgage... so much paperwork to get sorted! It really isn't the most simple process this house buying thing.

We decided not to sell at the end of last year and instead renovated.

Only stress was money (and a dickhead neighbour) with a 20% budget overrun and still another 10% needed to finish it.

Nightmare.

Looking to put our place on the market in the new year, and then try and orchestrate a move down south.

It's going to be pretty stressful, especially if the sale takes too long. Timing will be crucial on an inter island move worse thing would be to be stuck renting and have to move a couple of times.

Espeacially as the Wellington market seems sluggish.

Have just had our conditional offer accepted for a first house.

Weird mixture of excitement and sheer terror right now...

Yeah good mate thanks. Just got the LIM report yesterday so should be ready to go unconditional today or tomorrow. Then have to wait till Jan for settlement due to kiwisaver time-frames and everything shutting down for Christmas/New Years.
