Wellington police are seeking a man who assaulted then tied up staff at a suburban Karori cafe/bar late on Saturday night.

Police said two people were working at Cafe 162 at about 11.20pm when the robber, carrying a weapon, entered from a rear door.

He punched one worker in the face, then forced both staff into the office area, ordering them to open the safe and load cash into a black backpack.

He then tied the workers to a desk before bolting.

The offender was described as Caucasian, aged 25-30, about 170cm tall and of medium build. He was wearing a dark beanie with a blue and white bandana covering his face, a black hoodie with white design on the front, dark trousers and gloves.

(if you don't mind slight jocularity at this time...)

"So you finshed work at 11:15, Mr Peters. And where were you at 11:20?"

Seriously though, that's sh*tty. Too much of it happening around the place these days. Bastards.

Did he hit the offender?? I hope so. A bit of street justice every now and then for the criminals doesn't worry me. They get it too soft from the judges and do-gooder rehabilitation types.
