Hey all,

Anyone know an approximate amount of what gas would be Wellington to Gisborne return?

Cheers

Plenty + GST.

Would need to account for several factors before making a guesstimate Homer. Such as:Speed
  • Terrain (hills, corners)
  • Wind (speed & direction)
  • Vehicle (size, weight, power, tyres, rolling resistance rates)
  • Occupants (size, weight, ummmm... travelling resistance - ie: dunny stops)
  • Other vehicles (can you slipstream?)
  • Road conditions (coarse chip, tar seal, metal, dirt)
  • Unexpected delays (roadworks, earthquakes, tsunami)
  • Date and time of travel (distance and direction relative to planet rotation and gravity)
  • Shoes (and ability to accelerate/decelerate smoothly)
  • grabaseat.co.nz (is it cheaper to fly?)
  • plus everything else I can't be arsed typing lol

In other words - NFI!

Gee you take a lot into account haha.

Would be 31st december so speed shouldn't be an issue as it is busyday on the road, car is a 2.2L manual, one occupant, can't fly as would have to come back in the early hours of new years morning (as in leave Gissy as 2,3am).  Oh and I don't count on meeting any Tsunami's

I am just looking for a ball park figure (not down to the cent) from someone who has done the trip recently as I have no fooking clue and need to see if it is feasable

Seriously - I wouldn't have a clue... was just being a dick lol.

Try the AA website and get the distance then you'd get a rough idea wouldn't you?

I'm trying to remember how much it used to cost me when I used to make that trip from Wellington(Got in-laws in Gisborne). If I remember, I'll let you know.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

$10. $5 for the necessary items to make a "gisborne or bust sign" and $5 for the necessary items to make a "wellington or bust sign" for when you hitchike your cheap ass home.

About $80 in my 1300 sized engine corolla. It's the Napier - Wairoa leg that drinks it.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Make sure you fill up with petrol in Wairoa at the latest.

Went from Wairoa thru to gisborne years ago and was half way there in the evening when the petrol gauge went down to empty.  Made it to the outskirts but fair packing myself all the way.

... Why on earth would you drive up there on 31 Dec from Wgtn and then turn around at 2 am on 1 Jan?

She must be 15 out of 10 for you to do that!

Well good luck with all that. But drive carefully - it's a long haul up and back and the road is pretty windy up to Wairoa from Napier.
