Good luck getting to the final first. Prepare to be decapitated by the likes of Jayasuriya, Jayawardene, Muralidaran and Malinga.

Say those names 10times fast.

If i put a big bet on Sri Lanka to lose against New Zealand i think the Sri Lanka bookies will make sure that the likes of Jayasuriya, Jayawardene, Muralidaran and Malinga will throw the match.

*off to the dodgy bookies*

Oh well. Pakistan used to be our bogey team, now it's Sri Lanka. Our openers look like high school kids against Vaas and Malinga, and once they're gone, Murali just eats up the tail for breakfast. If McCullum, Styris & Oram had stuck around a little longer we might have been in. But it seems McCullum and Fleming both don't know how to face a ball from the Islanders.

Go Sri Lanka in the final - if there's one thing I couldn't stand, it'd be watching Australia do a threepeat. Even if they deserve it.

Hmm cricket is another game I have to put in the same basket as rugby. Boring. I just can't envisage people getting excited over a game that hardly any nations play. In cricket you got say one chance in 8 of being champion, in rugby one chance in 6 of winning da world egg cup thing but in football anyone in the top 20 is capable of winning the world cup on their day.
I played cricket once and found standing in the outfield with nothing to do about as exciting as watching paint dry. Cricket just sucks asss.

I'm going to have to stick up for cricket here.

To say it "just sucks asss" seems to me to be a fairly ignorant point of view to take. Cricket - particularly test cricket - is the greatest game on earth (Ill have to be careful posting that in a football forum!). You say that one of the reasons you like football is that anyone in the top 20 is capable of winning the world cup on their day. In test cricket, at the end of five days of intensive competition, only the better team can win; there is no such thing as on your day in test cricket you have to perform for the best part of a week in order to merely compete. Moreover, the history of test cricket in fact, of cricket in general is fascinating and colourful; it is not only the history of teams, and rules and grounds the history of cricket adds definition to the social histories of those nations that play the great game.

I guess that if you dont share these thoughts and opinions, then cricket probably would seem fairly dull, and thats fair enough. But to say that cricket sucks asss is to say that cricket fans suck asss, and that isnt fair it sucks.

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

I agree, I think to say any sport just sucks ass is pretty stupid comment actually.
All sports have their good points and their bad points.
Also I like Test cricket for the reason you said, the team that plays well for a whole week will win.
But I also like one day cricket because upsets are always possible. (Bangladesh vs India/South Africa and Ireland vs pakistan)

Overall to tell the truth I find cricket more exciting then football, but you don't see me coming in here and spamming that football sucks ass.

Curling sucks ass. Defend that.

Also, cricket is lots of things, and if its a thriller coming down to the last 10 overs or 10 balls it can be edge-of the seat stuff, but overall, football has to be more exciting than cricket, and has more general excitement per minute or something (IMHO).

Oh, and upsets are only possible among precious few teams. Bangaladesh might step up and knock over a big gun, but I don't see Canada or Scotland beating Australia any time soon. Cricket has to be about as predictable as rugby. Though yes, among those top teams, the balance of power is seldom set, and that makes for good matches.

Man, I turned what was a 5-word post into a novel. I need to know when to stop.
